CalistaShaving exfoliation?
Shaving IS exfoliating. Doing exfoliation after shaving is stupid, before is not necessary for leg hair.. You should moisturize tho.Shaving exfoliation?
No, you are supposed to exfoliate BEFORE shaving. Reason: when exfoliating, you are buffing off the excess dead skin cells that will hinder you from getting a clean, closer shave. And, yes, it's very important to exfoliate. As far as moisturizing, it is best to do it right out of the shower when your skin is still moist and can absorb that extra bit of moisturization. For exfoliating, I recommend buying a flat loofah with little slit for your hand to go through. Natural ones are good too. As far as moisturizing, I use a really good lotion that is made just for mositurizing like Curel, Lubriderm, etc then I worry about they smelly stuff later. The alcohols in the scented stuff dries your skin too.

Exfoliation help?
i don't have acne but i have some clogged pores on my face and shoulders. i've been googling up on exfoliation and its only mildly helpful because they only list methods on exfoliating, not the products itself. can someone recommend me some effective exfoliation products, like face wash or body wash?... preferably stuff that can be bought at wal-mart and such. thanksExfoliation help?
Neutrogena makes a body wash specifically for body acne that works and is found in the acne section. It should be available at walmart. When you shower, wash your hair first and then your body. Shampoo and condition could also be clogging the pores on your skin. You could also try using a mesh body puff. It will gently exfoliate your skin no matter what type of body wash you use and is gentle enough to use every day. There's also a buff puff specifically for facial use. If you only have a few clogged pores and not an acne problem this would be a good choice. You could use it with the skin care products you are already using and it's also gentle enough to use everyday. I would also recommend using a toner or witch haze on the areas after washing. It will also help.maps myspace.com

Basic exfoliation?
could someone tell me the best way to exfoliate your skin and how often it should be done?Basic exfoliation?
There are some great exfoliating products on the market.. Some are more abrasive than others.. I like St Ives products, they are reasonably priced, and work very well on almost all skin types.. and don't damage the skin.. St Ives makes a great face peel that is gentle and leaves the skin smooth, clean shinny, feeling refreshed, and removes the dead surface skin without soaking into the subdermal layers and causing redness and swelling.. Read the labels on any products you use to ensure you use them correctly..

Maria is right.
You must exfoliate first and then cleanse. The reason is the dead cells block your pores and if you don't exfoliate first you won't get your skin as clean and that can cause black heads. I don't tone, It's too drying. How often you exfoliate depends on the person. I exfoliate every day when I wash my face. I use just a teaspoon of pure baking soda (it's pure and un-irritating) and gently rub it all over my face. I have told a few friends about this and they are amazed at how their skin feels after wards and they all do it. A nice plain, simple soap such as ivory or Nutrigena is good. I never used anything perfumes on my face. A good lotion with Glycerin works well after cleaning. It's goo to put the lotion on right away also.
Not to brag, but I have really nice skin and have never had pimples or break outs. I don't think it's good to steam either, your opening up your pores and it leaves them subjected to dirt and dust in the air. I have told my sons also, this helps, change your pillow case often, don't stress on it and don't over scrub your skin either.Cleansing-%26gt;tonning-%26gt; exfoliating-%26gt;mosturising? tonning shd be done before exfoliation or after im confused?
this is how it goes
you exfoliate first to expose the fresh skin underneath, then you cleanse the skin with a good soap, no expensive, mild, but one that cleans well, like Ivory, If you want to you can tone, I never put alcohol on my face though, very drying and bad. Be sure to lotion up, the size of a pea. If you have oily skin that may not be necessary, only for night time after make-up removal.
you cleanse first.....then tone..then moisturize..\exfliate no more than 2 times a week
but..you can over exfoliate you skin..causing your skin to break out. Ony exfoliate 2 times week..and with gently circular motions using your finger tips.
make sure your cleanser is for your skin type..that makes a big difference too...as well does using the proper mositurizer..something that will not block your pores.

Toning is done after exfoliating.
toning is bellony according to my derm... just cleanse with a cleanser that contains saliclic acid and just moisturize with a sunscreen (and look, uve knocked down 2 steps and therefore can sleep in!)
You could have an allergic reaction to something in the products, or you might have irritation due to rubbing too hard or too harsh of a product. Try using less toner and/or moisturizer, and be sure to cool your pores after steaming. If thats not it you might need to switch to hypoallergenic or gentler products.

Does anyone know a home remedy for lip exfoliation? I have nice lips but after the winter they are dry, dull and still kind of cracked. Does anyone know a good way to get them soft and shiny (pre-lip gloss) ThanksLip exfoliation?
www.chapstick.comLip exfoliation?
ok, so here is a basic lip scrub, it is from an old issue of CosmoGirl.
Brown Sugar Lip Scrub:
This is from About U! Salon and Spa in Pittsburgh, PA, their website is aboutusalonandspa.com. This lip scrub smooths chapped and flaky lips.
You will need:
1 tsp. brown sugar
1 tsp. olive oil
Mix ingredients together, then use your fingertips to rub the mixture over your lips in a circular motion for about 15-30 seconds. Rinse, then apply lip balm. Use as needed, whenever your lips feel dry or flaky.
Otherwise, just keep applying balm and lipgloss!
Hope it helps! :)

Does exfoliation clear blackheads?
i need to clear my acne so desperately and the medication i'm using doesn't really work...any help guys?! thanx ';)Does exfoliation clear blackheads?
it won't clear blackheads, but it really helps. exfoliating helps remove the dead skin cells on your face. those same dead skin cells can be a major cause of acne since they clog your pores.Does exfoliation clear blackheads?
Well, it peels the dead skin cells off of your face....and it keeps it feeling smooth and silky if you use it everyday. But, i don't know if it will clear your blackheads completely! :(
nope, you cannot scrub that out. you need to dissolve them with Retin-A. you will need a prescription for a doctor though. good luck

4voo Deep Exfoliation Scrub?
I'm 16 and 've got acne, blackheads, whiteheads and blemishes....
Have you got any experience with 4voo's deep exfoliation scrub? How good is it? Indicate your age and if you've got acne too..4voo Deep Exfoliation Scrub?
I had terrible blackheads and major blemishes on my face. It was too the point were I didn't even go to school. I'm 20 and have been using the Deep Exfoliation Scrub for 3 years. I have recommended to my friends and I'm going to recommend it to you. There are a lot of great ingredients for your skin. Seaweed, Witch Hazel and Tea Tree.
My skin is no longer bumby, red and crusty(sorry about using that word, but I know what it's like). I use the Facial Balancing Cleanser twice a day. It is a cleaner and toner and my skin loves it. I use the Deep Exfoliation Scrub and Energizing Mask twice a week. I really love this. My dermatologist said this was like a microdermabrasion! and he actually has recommended his patients use it.
I also use the Maximum Renewal Moisturizer. I cannot live with out this! It has multi peptides in it. Basically its amino acids(protein) that help restore the natural renewal of skin cells.
I hope I've helped. I can recall being in the same boat you are. Any other questions please contact me.

I have acne but I use St. Ives the ones with tiny beads in them for exfoliating dead skins. I try to stay away from greasy/oily foods especially Chocolates and Pizza and also I don't use heavy moisturizer. I use Curel lotion as my face moisturizer daily!

Exfoliation vs. Microdermabrasion?
what's the difference between using a face scrub, a face mask and a microdermabrasion refinisher?Exfoliation vs. Microdermabrasion?
First off, face mask and face scrubs are just beauty products intended to do either of the following:
Lightly exfoliate dead skin cells at skin's surface
Remove excess dirt and oil debree(e.g: blackheads, whiteheads)
Calm and soothe your skin
Replenish and moisturize your skin
Microdermabrasion is a clinical, skin resurfacing procedure, which can alter the appearance of your skin from mild to drastic. Therefore, this procedure should be best performed by a licensed dermatologist, aa it is invasive, and if not done properly, may be harmful
This procedure can be performed with/a chemical peel, depending on the type and condition of skin, which should of course be determined through a consultation with a dermatologist prior to having anything done.
For best results, however, people do want the best of both worlds, by having an intial chemical peel, which is done to remove the uppermost coarse, dead surface of your skin. Then this is followed by microdermabrasion( your doctor would choose the intensity by which to set it), which would deep cleanse, deep exfoliate, and remove blackheads/whiteheads, thus minimizing the appearance of your pores. This following step is optional, and done only if your skin is in really bad condition, and not as sensitive. After having microderm done, you could have another chemical peel done, which works as a sort of sandblaster, by removing whatever microderm has left behind and smoothing your skin for the final finish.
Again, if done unproffessionally, these procedures can be harmful to you, so use precaution by visiting a dermatologist

Exfoliation recipes please?
i need something that i can use in the morning when i have to go to school and something for me that i can leave while i sleepExfoliation recipes please?
lemon and sugar....once a week...works wonders..huge beauty secret
or use an aspirin mask
do some research on these 2..therye miraclesExfoliation recipes please?
I use cornmeal mixed with my shower gel. If I have stubborn dry skin patches that are not coming off, I mix the cornmeal with sugar and a mashed papaya and leave it on the area about 3-5 minutes. Then I gently rub in a circular motion and rinse.
Another remedy to remove sunburned skin is to mix cornmeal with honey. Works well and all my clients use this treatment whenever needed.
answer 1 is good...just want to add that to make the asprin paste just grind it up and mix with a tiny bit of water so it's well, pasty haha. Asprin is an anti-inflammatory so it'll shrink acne if you have really bad red ones. If you have blackheads go for the lemon sugar for a little more scrubber action.

Which physical force causes exfoliation?
do you mean ';exfoliation'; or ';foliation?'; foliation is the layered banding of minerals in a rock due to high pressures in the earth. i've never heard of exfoliation, though.Which physical force causes exfoliation?
Exfoliation is where layers of rock split off parallel to the surface of a larger rock body.
In smaller rocks, heating and cooling (especially in a desert where it is very hot in the day and cold at night) can cause the rock to expand and contract near the surface and break off in layers.
Large, thick layers of rock split off parallel to the ground surface in some cases, and these might be the result of the fact that the rock used to be under the ground, and when erosion removed the rocks on top of it, it expanded because it had less weight on it.

Questoin about body exfoliation?
my friend told me that i hace to cleanse my body [wash it] and THEN exfoliate...i told her no that you dont need to clease, jsut exfoliate because if you cleanse and exfoliate you'll dry up your skin...which one is right???Questoin about body exfoliation?
you do need to cleanse your body. Obviously you want to wash it for hygeine reasons, but washing it won't cause over drying. Also exfoliation really only needs to be done 1-2 times a week. And definatley use a good moisturizer afterwards to lock in the moisture.Questoin about body exfoliation?
I just get myself a good moisturizing cleansing bodywash like dove or olay and use my loofah once theres no reason to do it twice your going to get clean enough the first time and you wont grind dirt into your skin when you get in the shower the water is already washing majority of the dirt off of you than make sure to moisturize within 3 minutes of getting out of the shower to better absorb the moisture
it is best to do both. I would cleanse first then exfoliate. If you do it the other way you will be grounding in dead skin and dirt into your pores, not a good thing. This is something my dermatologist told me
I agree with googirl! Plus, if you exfoliate more than once a week, it will do harm to your skin. I once made a mistake doing it three days in a row, and wounded up feeling this slightly burnt feeling on my skin. I was using baking soda.
So unless it says on the package it's gentle enough for day-to-day use, it's only safe to do it once. Plus, overdoing it can cause signs of againg.

What is exfoliation?
my bro's gf was talking about exfoliating her skin...what the heck is exfoliating? please some explain the process. What is exfoliation?
i think that means cleansing the skin. What is exfoliation?
its when you have a lotion or soap that has little rough things that take off the dead skin leaving you with nice healthier looking skin Report Abuse
Exfoliation is the process of sloughing off the dead skin cells on the surface to expose the softer newer skin below. There are many products and methods of exfoliation for different parts of the body ie: loofah sponges or bars used in conjunction with creams lotions or even sand, round silica or tiny particles of shells and seeds like apricot or walnut with the hot shower or bath water. The entire body benefits from exfoliation, it's just the methods and place that it is done in, or with that is the difference.
Peeling away dry skin cells and removing deeply trapped secretions that impede oxygenation. Marine sediments, mineral salts, and lipoamino acids can be used to stimulate circulation and add moisture.
exfoliation is a cosmetic technique that gets rid of dead skin cells from the face and body. it can be achieved by using facial scrubs that has exfoliants or those tiny beads thing that is quite rough so it takes with it the dead skin cells and helps bring out young, glowing, new skin.
you're lucky your gf wants to look more beautiful.... for you! lol

Mix in a little sugar with your normal face wash.
Mmmm, I am not sure that you can?
A loofah, ';buff puff'; (a plasticy scrunchy thing), or a body brush are inexpensive ways of exfoliating the body (once you've bought them they'll last for ages), just remember to always brush towards the heart.
If you have a piece of equipment for grinding nuts or coffee beans then you can use ground up dried aduki beans added to your regular soap. Dried beans are really inexpensive and a couple of tablespoons of beans ground up would last for quite a while. Make sure they're really well ground if you're going to use it on your face at all, as your face should be treated more gently. Face exfoliation is probably best left to only once a week. Make sure you slather on plenty of body lotion or moisturiser afterwards and you'll have silky soft skin for a fraction of the price of a spa.

Exfoliation question . . . ?
I have keratosis pilaris, or chicken skin. I've been reading all about it and you're supposed to use an exfoliator, and I was just wondering if anybody knew of one that worked well.Exfoliation question . . . ?
Mary Kay Microderm Abrasion Kit works very well.Exfoliation question . . . ?
collodial oatmeal baths and lachydron cream available at a pharmacy. the lactic acid in the cream helps exfloiate and realease the tiny hairs stuck inside from dead skin cells. the oatmeal baths will soften and soothe the skin. use a washcloth while in the oatmeal bath to encourage exfoliation further. use the cream everyday.

Easy exfoliation?
I find that no exfoliation is very easy. I have creams and tried homemade stuff, but you have to constantly scrub in circles or no skin comes off and it hurts my arms. Are there any other easier ways to exfoliate (that wont kill my arms)?Easy exfoliation?
exfoliation is only done once a week;
and when you do scrub, don't be hard on your skin. :-)Easy exfoliation?
#1 - U can get a product containing - Glycolic Acid. A very mild exfoliator %26amp; won't cause scrubbing damage. Can come in a moisturizer or face wash. One w/ 10-20% glycolic works great.
#2 - Plain Baking Soda is wonderful %26amp; easy. It absorbs excess oil %26amp; VERY light movement around face easily exfoliates too! Just mix some in your hand, add a bit of water ( make a watery paste) %26amp; apply to face.
Try these %26amp; your arms won't hurt ever again. Ha!
Good Luck!
BTW===%26gt; do this every 3 days :)
Sugar. The grains arent as rough as salt.
Just mix it with some scent free lotion.

Homemade exfoliation mask?
Hi I am sick of buying chemical loaded exfoliation mask that are to rough on my skin. I would love to make my own homemade one instead. With portage as an extract. Nothing to fancy just a few ingredients to form a healthy non chemical mask. Also no oranges please as an ingredient as I am highly allergic. I would love to hear from people who have experimented successfully and have found noticeable results in their own wonderful homemade mask? Thanks!Homemade exfoliation mask?
Oatmeal! I use plain oatmeal mixed with some water (just enough to make a paste) and then i put it on my face until it dries. Then I gently scrub my face as I'm washing it off.
Oatmeal is used in many face washes and lotions, but making it homemade is definitely better for you skin. I try to use mostly natural products (: Try using mostly natural products when you have a chance, like Burt's Bees and Alba (found at target and beauty stores).Homemade exfoliation mask?
I LOVE the honey/cinnamon mask. It softens and smoothes your face, and when you wash it off rub your fingers in circles all over-this will exfoliate really well because of the cinnamon. Leave it on for 30 minutes, then exfoliate. Good luck!
The easiest, no nonsense, extremely cheap, all-natural mask to use is good old Kraft Miracle Whip Salad Dressing! Remove all makeup first. Apply to whole face and neck (not eyes). Heck you can even apply it to your lips, because it makes your lips super soft.
Cover your eyes with damp cotton wool to combat watery eyes from the vinegar fumes. Relax in the bath or on the bed for 10 minutes. Remember to set your alarm clock or you might fall asleep.
Rinse off with lukewarm water and just feel how fantastic your skin feels! Because it is a natural product you can use it whenever you think your skin needs some TLC. Enjoy your soft cheeks.
Exfoliate with simply baking soda, no mixing. A gentle exfoliator. Or use sea sea salt or epsom salt. Mix salt with the liquid cleanser you're using and gently apply to wet face. Gently work through face and neck, rinse as usual, you notice results after the first treatment. Oh I grind the epsom salt using pestle %26amp; mortle to a fine grain. After all that work don't layer on synthetic moisturizers, use a natural one.
Mountainroseherbs.com has loads of organic non-chemical face masks and ingredients+guides to make your own. I've bought from there only twice but it's pretty solid and the products are top.

Exfoliation, moisturise, cleanse.?
How can i keep my face and body fresh? can i have some tips and products? xxxxxxxxxxxxxExfoliation, moisturise, cleanse.?
Exfoliate:
1.Brush dry skin before getting into the shower. You can use either a loofah, exfoliating gloves or a body exfoliating brush. Start at the soles of the feet and work your way up.
2.Get into the bath or shower and wet your entire body.
Step
3
Apply exfoliating cleanser to your loofah or exfoliating brush or gloves.
Step
4
Scrub your body with it, using gentle, circular motions.
Step
5
Opt for grainy types of cleansers to clean the skin, rather than soap. Choose exfoliating cleansers that contain ingredients such as oatmeal, ground almonds or even sea salt. The grainy texture exfoliates the skin.
Step
6
Make your own exfoliating cleanser, if you prefer. Mix sea salt, olive oil and lemon juice together, or mix ground almonds and powdered milk. The combinations are endless.
Step
7
Use a washcloth for mild exfoliation.
Step
8
Rub rough spots, such as heels, with a pumice stone or stick.
Step
9
Apply lotion containing alpha or beta hydroxy acids after you exfoliate. This will continue the exfoliating process because the acids further abrade and remove dead skin cells.
Step
10
Be sure to use body moisturizers at least once every day. Regular exfoliating is extremely drying to the skin and will do more harm than good unless the skin is rehydrated liberally with lotions.

Tips %26amp; Warnings
Some products are more abrasive than others. If your skin is very sensitive, use as little friction as possible and stick to the least abrasive products.
Never overexfoliate with excessively abrasive exfoliating cleansers, or you run the risk of bursting the delicate blood vessels under the skin. If the vessels burst, your skin may appear permanently flushed. This condition, known as telangiectasia, must then be treated using laser surgery.

Are you tired of cakey makeup? Try RawMinerals Free.
6 All you have to do is take baby oil and sugar (regular) and mix them together. Then in the shower/bath rub it on your skin. rinse and voil脿 - beautiful, silky skin. For extra silkiness use a moisturizer after bathing.
I know a lot has been said about using sea salt with olive oil, but most people warn you not to use that on your face. Rock salt is very abrasive and potentially damaging. However, I've found that it's very effective if you get finely-ground table salt and mix it heavily with olive oil. Apply it using circular motions, rinse, and dab it dry with a towel. It's not nearly as abrasive as rock salt, and certainly no more so than sand (which is found in many facial cleansers)! Just make sure to leave a little oil on your face (it helps to moisturize the epidermis).
Moisturize.
1.Wash your face every morning with a moisturizing scrub made especially for facial skin.
Step
2
Dry your face completely by patting it with a soft towel.
Step
3
Shave before applying moisturizer or other products. Look for a shaving cream or gel that is specifically for moisturizing your skin.
Step
4
Apply a daily moisturizer in the morning before applying any makeup.
Step
5
Consider reapplication of the moisturizer throughout the day if you skin is naturally dry.
Step
6
Using your face wash, remove all dirty and makeup from your skin at the end of the day.
Step
7
Apply a moisturizer before going to bed at night.
Cleanse.
1. Dampen your face with tepid water as hot water dehydrates the skin. ';This will help you to spread the cleanser more evenly across the skin,'; explains Cook. ';The water also helps activate some cleanser ingredients to remove debris.';
2. ';Most skin types can use the same cleanser,'; advises Cook. Apply a small amount to your hands and with small, circular motions, use your finger tips to lightly massage across your skin.
3. Rinse using tepid water and pat your skin dry. ';Rubbing your skin creates excess drag on the skin,'; explains Cook. This can cause damage, so be sure to keep things gentle. If your skin needs moisturiser, apply it now while it's still damp.
4. Don't cleanse your skin more than twice a day.Exfoliation, moisturise, cleanse.?
I exfoliate once a week the face and body. If you do anymore, then you are only stimulating the glands that create acne and doing the opposite of what your intentions are. I use Vichy, the green bottle with a pump, everyday. It works for your face, non greasy. Always moisturize. I use Lancome with an SPF 15. Not heavy at all. If you get those exfoliating gloves, they work good. Make sure you wash it in the machine and hang dry so it does not collect batcteria. Most important, drink a lot of water! I am 43 years old and I am told I look 25-30! so it must be working!maps myspace.com
