Shaving exfoliation?

Heyy

To shave, I use Venus Embrace, which by the way, is amaaazingg and i love it. a lot of ppl have told me to exfoliate or moisture after you shave, and i dont know how to efoliate. Can you recommend any products to exfoliate after shaving?

With love,

CalistaShaving exfoliation?
Shaving IS exfoliating. Doing exfoliation after shaving is stupid, before is not necessary for leg hair.. You should moisturize tho.Shaving exfoliation?
No, you are supposed to exfoliate BEFORE shaving. Reason: when exfoliating, you are buffing off the excess dead skin cells that will hinder you from getting a clean, closer shave. And, yes, it's very important to exfoliate. As far as moisturizing, it is best to do it right out of the shower when your skin is still moist and can absorb that extra bit of moisturization. For exfoliating, I recommend buying a flat loofah with little slit for your hand to go through. Natural ones are good too. As far as moisturizing, I use a really good lotion that is made just for mositurizing like Curel, Lubriderm, etc then I worry about they smelly stuff later. The alcohols in the scented stuff dries your skin too.

Exfoliation help?

i don't have acne but i have some clogged pores on my face and shoulders. i've been googling up on exfoliation and its only mildly helpful because they only list methods on exfoliating, not the products itself. can someone recommend me some effective exfoliation products, like face wash or body wash?... preferably stuff that can be bought at wal-mart and such. thanksExfoliation help?
Neutrogena makes a body wash specifically for body acne that works and is found in the acne section. It should be available at walmart. When you shower, wash your hair first and then your body. Shampoo and condition could also be clogging the pores on your skin. You could also try using a mesh body puff. It will gently exfoliate your skin no matter what type of body wash you use and is gentle enough to use every day. There's also a buff puff specifically for facial use. If you only have a few clogged pores and not an acne problem this would be a good choice. You could use it with the skin care products you are already using and it's also gentle enough to use everyday. I would also recommend using a toner or witch haze on the areas after washing. It will also help.

  • Basic exfoliation?

could someone tell me the best way to exfoliate your skin and how often it should be done?Basic exfoliation?
There are some great exfoliating products on the market.. Some are more abrasive than others.. I like St Ives products, they are reasonably priced, and work very well on almost all skin types.. and don't damage the skin.. St Ives makes a great face peel that is gentle and leaves the skin smooth, clean shinny, feeling refreshed, and removes the dead surface skin without soaking into the subdermal layers and causing redness and swelling.. Read the labels on any products you use to ensure you use them correctly..

    Maria is right.

You must exfoliate first and then cleanse. The reason is the dead cells block your pores and if you don't exfoliate first you won't get your skin as clean and that can cause black heads. I don't tone, It's too drying. How often you exfoliate depends on the person. I exfoliate every day when I wash my face. I use just a teaspoon of pure baking soda (it's pure and un-irritating) and gently rub it all over my face. I have told a few friends about this and they are amazed at how their skin feels after wards and they all do it. A nice plain, simple soap such as ivory or Nutrigena is good. I never used anything perfumes on my face. A good lotion with Glycerin works well after cleaning. It's goo to put the lotion on right away also.

Not to brag, but I have really nice skin and have never had pimples or break outs. I don't think it's good to steam either, your opening up your pores and it leaves them subjected to dirt and dust in the air. I have told my sons also, this helps, change your pillow case often, don't stress on it and don't over scrub your skin either.Cleansing-%26gt;tonning-%26gt; exfoliating-%26gt;mosturising? tonning shd be done before exfoliation or after im confused?
    this is how it goes

you exfoliate first to expose the fresh skin underneath, then you cleanse the skin with a good soap, no expensive, mild, but one that cleans well, like Ivory, If you want to you can tone, I never put alcohol on my face though, very drying and bad. Be sure to lotion up, the size of a pea. If you have oily skin that may not be necessary, only for night time after make-up removal.
    you cleanse first.....then tone..then moisturize..\exfliate no more than 2 times a week

but..you can over exfoliate you skin..causing your skin to break out. Ony exfoliate 2 times week..and with gently circular motions using your finger tips.

make sure your cleanser is for your skin type..that makes a big difference too...as well does using the proper mositurizer..something that will not block your pores.

    http://www.magnoliaspa.com/beauty-secret鈥?/a>
    Toning is done after exfoliating.
toning is bellony according to my derm... just cleanse with a cleanser that contains saliclic acid and just moisturize with a sunscreen (and look, uve knocked down 2 steps and therefore can sleep in!)
You could have an allergic reaction to something in the products, or you might have irritation due to rubbing too hard or too harsh of a product. Try using less toner and/or moisturizer, and be sure to cool your pores after steaming. If thats not it you might need to switch to hypoallergenic or gentler products.

    Lip exfoliation?

Does anyone know a home remedy for lip exfoliation? I have nice lips but after the winter they are dry, dull and still kind of cracked. Does anyone know a good way to get them soft and shiny (pre-lip gloss) ThanksLip exfoliation?
    www.chapstick.comLip exfoliation?
ok, so here is a basic lip scrub, it is from an old issue of CosmoGirl.

    Brown Sugar Lip Scrub:

This is from About U! Salon and Spa in Pittsburgh, PA, their website is aboutusalonandspa.com. This lip scrub smooths chapped and flaky lips.

    You will need:

    1 tsp. brown sugar

    1 tsp. olive oil

Mix ingredients together, then use your fingertips to rub the mixture over your lips in a circular motion for about 15-30 seconds. Rinse, then apply lip balm. Use as needed, whenever your lips feel dry or flaky.

Otherwise, just keep applying balm and lipgloss!

    Hope it helps! :)

    Does exfoliation clear blackheads?

i need to clear my acne so desperately and the medication i'm using doesn't really work...any help guys?! thanx ';)Does exfoliation clear blackheads?
it won't clear blackheads, but it really helps. exfoliating helps remove the dead skin cells on your face. those same dead skin cells can be a major cause of acne since they clog your pores.Does exfoliation clear blackheads?
Well, it peels the dead skin cells off of your face....and it keeps it feeling smooth and silky if you use it everyday. But, i don't know if it will clear your blackheads completely! :(
nope, you cannot scrub that out. you need to dissolve them with Retin-A. you will need a prescription for a doctor though. good luck

  • 4voo Deep Exfoliation Scrub?

I'm 16 and 've got acne, blackheads, whiteheads and blemishes....

Have you got any experience with 4voo's deep exfoliation scrub? How good is it? Indicate your age and if you've got acne too..4voo Deep Exfoliation Scrub?
I had terrible blackheads and major blemishes on my face. It was too the point were I didn't even go to school. I'm 20 and have been using the Deep Exfoliation Scrub for 3 years. I have recommended to my friends and I'm going to recommend it to you. There are a lot of great ingredients for your skin. Seaweed, Witch Hazel and Tea Tree.

My skin is no longer bumby, red and crusty(sorry about using that word, but I know what it's like). I use the Facial Balancing Cleanser twice a day. It is a cleaner and toner and my skin loves it. I use the Deep Exfoliation Scrub and Energizing Mask twice a week. I really love this. My dermatologist said this was like a microdermabrasion! and he actually has recommended his patients use it.

I also use the Maximum Renewal Moisturizer. I cannot live with out this! It has multi peptides in it. Basically its amino acids(protein) that help restore the natural renewal of skin cells.

I hope I've helped. I can recall being in the same boat you are. Any other questions please contact me.

    R4voo Deep Exfoliation Scrub?
I have acne but I use St. Ives the ones with tiny beads in them for exfoliating dead skins. I try to stay away from greasy/oily foods especially Chocolates and Pizza and also I don't use heavy moisturizer. I use Curel lotion as my face moisturizer daily!

    Exfoliation vs. Microdermabrasion?

what's the difference between using a face scrub, a face mask and a microdermabrasion refinisher?Exfoliation vs. Microdermabrasion?
First off, face mask and face scrubs are just beauty products intended to do either of the following:

Lightly exfoliate dead skin cells at skin's surface

Remove excess dirt and oil debree(e.g: blackheads, whiteheads)

    Calm and soothe your skin

    Replenish and moisturize your skin

Microdermabrasion is a clinical, skin resurfacing procedure, which can alter the appearance of your skin from mild to drastic. Therefore, this procedure should be best performed by a licensed dermatologist, aa it is invasive, and if not done properly, may be harmful

This procedure can be performed with/a chemical peel, depending on the type and condition of skin, which should of course be determined through a consultation with a dermatologist prior to having anything done.

For best results, however, people do want the best of both worlds, by having an intial chemical peel, which is done to remove the uppermost coarse, dead surface of your skin. Then this is followed by microdermabrasion( your doctor would choose the intensity by which to set it), which would deep cleanse, deep exfoliate, and remove blackheads/whiteheads, thus minimizing the appearance of your pores. This following step is optional, and done only if your skin is in really bad condition, and not as sensitive. After having microderm done, you could have another chemical peel done, which works as a sort of sandblaster, by removing whatever microderm has left behind and smoothing your skin for the final finish.

Again, if done unproffessionally, these procedures can be harmful to you, so use precaution by visiting a dermatologist

    lemon and sugar....once a week...works wonders..huge beauty secret

I use cornmeal mixed with my shower gel. If I have stubborn dry skin patches that are not coming off, I mix the cornmeal with sugar and a mashed papaya and leave it on the area about 3-5 minutes. Then I gently rub in a circular motion and rinse.

Another remedy to remove sunburned skin is to mix cornmeal with honey. Works well and all my clients use this treatment whenever needed.
answer 1 is good...just want to add that to make the asprin paste just grind it up and mix with a tiny bit of water so it's well, pasty haha. Asprin is an anti-inflammatory so it'll shrink acne if you have really bad red ones. If you have blackheads go for the lemon sugar for a little more scrubber action.

    Which physical force causes exfoliation?

do you mean ';exfoliation'; or ';foliation?'; foliation is the layered banding of minerals in a rock due to high pressures in the earth. i've never heard of exfoliation, though.Which physical force causes exfoliation?
Exfoliation is where layers of rock split off parallel to the surface of a larger rock body.

In smaller rocks, heating and cooling (especially in a desert where it is very hot in the day and cold at night) can cause the rock to expand and contract near the surface and break off in layers.

Large, thick layers of rock split off parallel to the ground surface in some cases, and these might be the result of the fact that the rock used to be under the ground, and when erosion removed the rocks on top of it, it expanded because it had less weight on it.

    Questoin about body exfoliation?

my friend told me that i hace to cleanse my body [wash it] and THEN exfoliate...i told her no that you dont need to clease, jsut exfoliate because if you cleanse and exfoliate you'll dry up your skin...which one is right???Questoin about body exfoliation?
you do need to cleanse your body. Obviously you want to wash it for hygeine reasons, but washing it won't cause over drying. Also exfoliation really only needs to be done 1-2 times a week. And definatley use a good moisturizer afterwards to lock in the moisture.Questoin about body exfoliation?
I just get myself a good moisturizing cleansing bodywash like dove or olay and use my loofah once theres no reason to do it twice your going to get clean enough the first time and you wont grind dirt into your skin when you get in the shower the water is already washing majority of the dirt off of you than make sure to moisturize within 3 minutes of getting out of the shower to better absorb the moisture
it is best to do both. I would cleanse first then exfoliate. If you do it the other way you will be grounding in dead skin and dirt into your pores, not a good thing. This is something my dermatologist told me
I agree with googirl! Plus, if you exfoliate more than once a week, it will do harm to your skin. I once made a mistake doing it three days in a row, and wounded up feeling this slightly burnt feeling on my skin. I was using baking soda.

So unless it says on the package it's gentle enough for day-to-day use, it's only safe to do it once. Plus, overdoing it can cause signs of againg.

    What is exfoliation?

my bro's gf was talking about exfoliating her skin...what the heck is exfoliating? please some explain the process. What is exfoliation?
i think that means cleansing the skin. What is exfoliation?
its when you have a lotion or soap that has little rough things that take off the dead skin leaving you with nice healthier looking skin Report Abuse

Exfoliation is the process of sloughing off the dead skin cells on the surface to expose the softer newer skin below. There are many products and methods of exfoliation for different parts of the body ie: loofah sponges or bars used in conjunction with creams lotions or even sand, round silica or tiny particles of shells and seeds like apricot or walnut with the hot shower or bath water. The entire body benefits from exfoliation, it's just the methods and place that it is done in, or with that is the difference.
Peeling away dry skin cells and removing deeply trapped secretions that impede oxygenation. Marine sediments, mineral salts, and lipoamino acids can be used to stimulate circulation and add moisture.
exfoliation is a cosmetic technique that gets rid of dead skin cells from the face and body. it can be achieved by using facial scrubs that has exfoliants or those tiny beads thing that is quite rough so it takes with it the dead skin cells and helps bring out young, glowing, new skin.

you're lucky your gf wants to look more beautiful.... for you! lol
its a type of weathering in the geographical sphere, so its surely about altering her skin i guess.. like a sun tan

Mix in a little sugar with your normal face wash.
Mmmm, I am not sure that you can?
A loofah, ';buff puff'; (a plasticy scrunchy thing), or a body brush are inexpensive ways of exfoliating the body (once you've bought them they'll last for ages), just remember to always brush towards the heart.

If you have a piece of equipment for grinding nuts or coffee beans then you can use ground up dried aduki beans added to your regular soap. Dried beans are really inexpensive and a couple of tablespoons of beans ground up would last for quite a while. Make sure they're really well ground if you're going to use it on your face at all, as your face should be treated more gently. Face exfoliation is probably best left to only once a week. Make sure you slather on plenty of body lotion or moisturiser afterwards and you'll have silky soft skin for a fraction of the price of a spa.

    Exfoliation question . . . ?

I have keratosis pilaris, or chicken skin. I've been reading all about it and you're supposed to use an exfoliator, and I was just wondering if anybody knew of one that worked well.Exfoliation question . . . ?
Mary Kay Microderm Abrasion Kit works very well.Exfoliation question . . . ?
collodial oatmeal baths and lachydron cream available at a pharmacy. the lactic acid in the cream helps exfloiate and realease the tiny hairs stuck inside from dead skin cells. the oatmeal baths will soften and soothe the skin. use a washcloth while in the oatmeal bath to encourage exfoliation further. use the cream everyday.

    Easy exfoliation?

#1 - U can get a product containing - Glycolic Acid. A very mild exfoliator %26amp; won't cause scrubbing damage. Can come in a moisturizer or face wash. One w/ 10-20% glycolic works great.

I would love to hear from people who have experimented successfully and have found noticeable results in their own wonderful homemade mask? Thanks!Homemade exfoliation mask?
Oatmeal! I use plain oatmeal mixed with some water (just enough to make a paste) and then i put it on my face until it dries. Then I gently scrub my face as I'm washing it off.

Oatmeal is used in many face washes and lotions, but making it homemade is definitely better for you skin. I try to use mostly natural products (: Try using mostly natural products when you have a chance, like Burt's Bees and Alba (found at target and beauty stores).Homemade exfoliation mask?
I LOVE the honey/cinnamon mask. It softens and smoothes your face, and when you wash it off rub your fingers in circles all over-this will exfoliate really well because of the cinnamon. Leave it on for 30 minutes, then exfoliate. Good luck!
The easiest, no nonsense, extremely cheap, all-natural mask to use is good old Kraft Miracle Whip Salad Dressing! Remove all makeup first. Apply to whole face and neck (not eyes). Heck you can even apply it to your lips, because it makes your lips super soft.

Cover your eyes with damp cotton wool to combat watery eyes from the vinegar fumes. Relax in the bath or on the bed for 10 minutes. Remember to set your alarm clock or you might fall asleep.

Rinse off with lukewarm water and just feel how fantastic your skin feels! Because it is a natural product you can use it whenever you think your skin needs some TLC. Enjoy your soft cheeks.
Exfoliate with simply baking soda, no mixing. A gentle exfoliator. Or use sea sea salt or epsom salt. Mix salt with the liquid cleanser you're using and gently apply to wet face. Gently work through face and neck, rinse as usual, you notice results after the first treatment. Oh I grind the epsom salt using pestle %26amp; mortle to a fine grain. After all that work don't layer on synthetic moisturizers, use a natural one.
Mountainroseherbs.com has loads of organic non-chemical face masks and ingredients+guides to make your own. I've bought from there only twice but it's pretty solid and the products are top.

    Exfoliation, moisturise, cleanse.?

How can i keep my face and body fresh? can i have some tips and products? xxxxxxxxxxxxxExfoliation, moisturise, cleanse.?
    Exfoliate:

1.Brush dry skin before getting into the shower. You can use either a loofah, exfoliating gloves or a body exfoliating brush. Start at the soles of the feet and work your way up.

2.Get into the bath or shower and wet your entire body.

    Step

    3

Apply exfoliating cleanser to your loofah or exfoliating brush or gloves.

    Step

    4

Scrub your body with it, using gentle, circular motions.

    Step

    5

Opt for grainy types of cleansers to clean the skin, rather than soap. Choose exfoliating cleansers that contain ingredients such as oatmeal, ground almonds or even sea salt. The grainy texture exfoliates the skin.

    Step

    6

Make your own exfoliating cleanser, if you prefer. Mix sea salt, olive oil and lemon juice together, or mix ground almonds and powdered milk. The combinations are endless.

    Step

    7

Use a washcloth for mild exfoliation.

    Step

    8

Rub rough spots, such as heels, with a pumice stone or stick.

    Step

    9

Apply lotion containing alpha or beta hydroxy acids after you exfoliate. This will continue the exfoliating process because the acids further abrade and remove dead skin cells.

    Step

    10

Be sure to use body moisturizers at least once every day. Regular exfoliating is extremely drying to the skin and will do more harm than good unless the skin is rehydrated liberally with lotions.

    Tips %26amp; Warnings

Some products are more abrasive than others. If your skin is very sensitive, use as little friction as possible and stick to the least abrasive products.

Never overexfoliate with excessively abrasive exfoliating cleansers, or you run the risk of bursting the delicate blood vessels under the skin. If the vessels burst, your skin may appear permanently flushed. This condition, known as telangiectasia, must then be treated using laser surgery.

    Who Can Help:

Are you tired of cakey makeup? Try RawMinerals Free.

6 All you have to do is take baby oil and sugar (regular) and mix them together. Then in the shower/bath rub it on your skin. rinse and voil脿 - beautiful, silky skin. For extra silkiness use a moisturizer after bathing.

I know a lot has been said about using sea salt with olive oil, but most people warn you not to use that on your face. Rock salt is very abrasive and potentially damaging. However, I've found that it's very effective if you get finely-ground table salt and mix it heavily with olive oil. Apply it using circular motions, rinse, and dab it dry with a towel. It's not nearly as abrasive as rock salt, and certainly no more so than sand (which is found in many facial cleansers)! Just make sure to leave a little oil on your face (it helps to moisturize the epidermis).

    Moisturize.

1.Wash your face every morning with a moisturizing scrub made especially for facial skin.

    Step

    2

Dry your face completely by patting it with a soft towel.

    Step

    3

Shave before applying moisturizer or other products. Look for a shaving cream or gel that is specifically for moisturizing your skin.

    Step

    4

Apply a daily moisturizer in the morning before applying any makeup.

    Step

    5

Consider reapplication of the moisturizer throughout the day if you skin is naturally dry.

    Step

    6

Using your face wash, remove all dirty and makeup from your skin at the end of the day.

    Step

    7

Apply a moisturizer before going to bed at night.

    Cleanse.

    1. Dampen your face with tepid water as hot water dehydrates the skin. ';This will help you to spread the cleanser more evenly across the skin,'; explains Cook. ';The water also helps activate some cleanser ingredients to remove debris.';

    2. ';Most skin types can use the same cleanser,'; advises Cook. Apply a small amount to your hands and with small, circular motions, use your finger tips to lightly massage across your skin.

    3. Rinse using tepid water and pat your skin dry. ';Rubbing your skin creates excess drag on the skin,'; explains Cook. This can cause damage, so be sure to keep things gentle. If your skin needs moisturiser, apply it now while it's still damp.

    4. Don't cleanse your skin more than twice a day.Exfoliation, moisturise, cleanse.?
I exfoliate once a week the face and body. If you do anymore, then you are only stimulating the glands that create acne and doing the opposite of what your intentions are. I use Vichy, the green bottle with a pump, everyday. It works for your face, non greasy. Always moisturize. I use Lancome with an SPF 15. Not heavy at all. If you get those exfoliating gloves, they work good. Make sure you wash it in the machine and hang dry so it does not collect batcteria. Most important, drink a lot of water! I am 43 years old and I am told I look 25-30! so it must be working!

  • Exfoliation Before Applying Fake Tan?

I'm looking for a really good exfoliator than I can use before I fake tan, and when it starts fading..

I've heard that you shouldn't use one that contains any oils in, because the oil can strip the colour and make the tan streaky/patchy.. Is this true? Because I can only seem to find exfoliators and scrubs that do contain oils :( i'm very confused!!!

The Danger of Tanning Beds - As has been discussed in the '; understanding UV light'; section - exposure to ultra violet light has been linked to a number of positive attributes, specifically to improving our overall bilogical functions. The study of this is known as Heliopathy.

Yet, as with everything, there are limits. Too much sun and UV light can start leading us down the path (the often very painful path) of diminishing returns. The danger of tanning beds...

Over exposure to UV light has been specifically linked to:

    Skin cancer

This section gives a brief overview to how skin cancer develops and what the early symptoms are that regular sun bed uses should watch out for. The types, treatment advice and information in relation to skin cancer has also been supplemented into this web site.

    Sun burn

Many of us have experienced this painful redening of the skin at one point or another - whether it was on your summer holiday or due to your over zealousness down at the tanning salon. This section proivides tried and proven sun burn remedies that will help you cope with the sting, itch and pain.

    Premature Ageing

This is another danger of tanning beds and a problem facing many of us. This section gives us some insight in to the causes of this phenomena where the skin starts to lose its elasticity.

UV light penetrates right down to the dermis of the skin and can damage its structure. Continued exposure dries our skin out skin. The more moisture we lose from the dermis the more there is a decrease in the overall elasticity of the skin - this is how wrinkles, emphasized frown lines and other signs of premature ageing develop.

These effects only occur over a long period of time, but most people can never think ';long term'; when it comes to looking good - its all about the here and now. It will only be in your late thirties and early forties that you realize the full extent of the UV exposure you received in your youth.

The formation of cataracts, which is the clouding up of the lens in the eye usually occurs with age. However, links are being found between cataract development and UV radiation.

So yes one danger of tanning beds is it can be linked to premature ageing - but unfortunately no one has been able to calculate just how much UV exposure leads to this. Provided we use tanning equipment responsibly and follow the professional guidelines the risk of developing wrinkles, liver spots, and other aging symptoms are low. People need to realise that the risk of premature aging still does exist even if its full effects are only felt 20 years later.

One way of reversing the signs of premature aging is form the use of Alpha Hydroxy Acids found in firming creams and lotions. These acids originate from natural products found in fruit sugars. What these acids do is slow down the aging of the skin that can be caused from stress, pollution and (what we are most concerned with) prolonged UV exposure.Exfoliation Before Applying Fake Tan?
If you're concerned about oils, after you exfoliate, just wash with an oil removing product. Most good soaps have oils in them, so how about a soap that doesn't, like an oil cutting dish soap like ...lemon joy,.. I don't use most stuff like that, but either contact the company and get direct advise ...or think outside the box.

On an additional note, I try to avoid the sun because of wrinkle damage and so I used to use fake tan. It gave me permanent age spots. (My dermatologist tells me the age spots are from sun damage but these spots showed up when i was never going out and was wearing serious sunblock constantly). Other women have confided the same story to me recently, so I finally feel validated.

    Good luck!
    use an exfoliator glove

    and cheeper.

    hope this helped :)
You can always buy one of those gloves that you use for exfoliating, then you use soap only. I also use the St Yves Apricot exfoliating cream works very well but make sure you wash your legs with soap afterwards and rinse well.
you can get exfoliating gloves, the body shop ones are really good and just use it with soap or shower gel. i also use a body brush which is also good.
I use St Tropez body polisher, not noticed if it has any oils in it or not, but works for me!

    Exfoliation question?

So I exfoliate everyday with a sugar scrub. Its really been working as far as keeping my skin smooth and clear.

My friend said that its bad to do it twice a day[morning %26amp; night]. And afterwards, I put apple cider vinegar on the problem areas. Im really using the scrub as a part of my regimen to get rid of acne scars [I have no problem with acne] and the scars seem to be going away.

Anyway, her argument is that your skin needs time to heal. Is that right or can I continue to do this?Exfoliation question?
You are doing way to much scrubbing. Even with acne ,you are not suppose to scrub that much ! main purpose of scrubbing is to get rid of dead skin cells that accumulate over time and causes us to have dull looking skin. Over scrubbing can cause your natural skin cell to come off causing your skin to become dry.

Our skin cells renew itself at night but with your over scrubbing, your skin will not have good skin cell left. Scrub you skin only twice a week at the most. Scrubbing is not the way to get rid of scars and your friend is right, your skin need time to heal.

So do your skin a favor and STOP scrubbing this much !!!!

Let your natural skin cells to grow.Exfoliation question?
    I have the same problem..acne scars..if u find a solution tell me too :(
Exfoliate once or twice a week with a really good quality exfoliation product and you're skin will feel 100x better for it.

Over-exfoliating dries your skin out causing it to produce more oil as moisture and lubricant (but it makes one look so shiny!)

PS. A good, everyday use with less effort is Bio-oil. I found it really helped my acne scars. It seems weird at first, putting oil on your face, but it is absorbed quickly.
well since you are just trying to clear up scars it's fine because you want to ';peel off'; the layers of hyperpigmentation.

HOWEVER! If you have acne, this rips open the sores causing the bacteria and oil to spread which could cause more infections. Also your acne will get irritated and red, looking more severe.
simple rule sweetheart is to exfoliate once a week only..

you don't get dead skin cells everyday.. once you scrub, skin is renewed, and you wouldn't wanna scrub it off, would you? :-)

    How to...facial exfoliation?

anyone know of any good ways to exfoliate? what are some good (but cheap) brands of exfoliating cleaners and moisturizing lotions to use? and how often should i do it?

i already use clean and clear (the blue one) in the mornings.

    thanks in advance!How to...facial exfoliation?
I like Biore Pore Minimizing Refining Exfoliator. I wouldn't consider it cheap, it's around $10, but it works really well. I use it once a week, and i have been using the same tube for 9 months now.

If you want something cheaper, just do a homemade facial mask that contains yogurt. The lactic acid will exfoliate dissolving the ';glue'; that attaches the dead skin cells to your face. It brightens and smooths skin.

As for a moisturizer, try something from Aveeno. Smells good, works great, and decent price. Or try something organic like Alba Green Tea Moisturizer.

    Good luck. xxHow to...facial exfoliation?
I recommend using the St. Ive's Apricot Scrub, you can get it at drugstores/walmart/target, etc. It's pretty cheap for how good it works. I use the one for sensitive skin, but there's also different types, so make sure you pick out the one that would work best for you. As far as moisturizers go, Aveeno makes amazing ones. Their products contain natural ingredients, oats/wheats, etc. I highly recommend trying out the Positively Radiant Moisturizer. It brings out your skin's natural glow, keeps your face smooth, etc
If you want to go natural with no chemicals, mix half and half of sugar and olive oil. It's really rough though but just take the pain. I also started using this awesome exfoliater called BioChemicals Pumice Peel but it's $55. Don't use it very often to avoid scrubbing your face off. Use accordingly, like to when you feel like it or when your face gets dry.

As far as exfoliators/cleansers, St Ives makes a good peach facial scrub that I really like.

As far as moisturizers, I like Johnson's baby lotion ';original';.
what i use that i found to work actually really good is Baking soda.

    Hat is exfoliation?

    why is it so important?

    how do you exfoliate?

how many times should you do it?Hat is exfoliation?
Because your skin constantly renews you can get a build up of dead cells that make your skin rough, limiting the flow of oxygen to your tissues and the absorption of creams. This is what makes skin look gray, rough, dry and thickened. By exfoliating generally while in the shower, you scrub off those cells.

You can use skin scrubs from the supermarket but the best is The Magic Peeling Glove a couple of times a week.

You can buy one at some pharmacies or online at http://www.divaemporium.com.auHat is exfoliation?
exfoliation is important because it is the process in which you get rid of dead skin cells. it is important to exfoliate because this keeps your skin clean and the circulation good. without exfoliating you would have dull skin, but when you do exfoliate regularly (i recommend 3 times a week) you lose the dead skin, your face looks more glowing and clean.

actually exfoliating your face drys out your skin. So they say to use a good moisturizer afterwards. I recommend Ponds Dry skin Moisturizer. It is made specifically to target REALLY dry skin. You can find it at Wal-mart. Hope that helps. I have reli dry skin. i dont know wat 2 do at this stage it is getting sooo bad! i use exfoliation ...?

I totally know how you feel. I have the worst dry skin. It get's worst with different weather too (really hot or really cold).

    Here鈥檚 how I cope;

Make sure you remove makeup everyday as this can dry the skin out even more so.

Never ever wash your face with soap; seriously it can clog the skin. Also don't use or try not to use tap water as it contains chlorine, fluoride, and other undesirable chemicals. Instead, use cold mineral water or ice made with it, or use a sensitive face wash instead.

Moisturizer morning and night and make sure it's the right one for your skin type.

Drink loads of water to dehydrate the skin.

Is the dry skin all over your body or just on your face?

If it is just on your face i recommend using oil of olay foam cleanser and moisturize with cetaphil. If it is all over your body I would wash with the cetaphil bar cleanser which can be used on your face as well and moisturize with cetaphil lotion. If it is extreme on your body I would use Aquaphor before you go to bed because it is like vaseline and use the cetaphil when you go out. Try not to use anything with perfumes or dyes in it because that dries out your skin and if it is all over your body I would switch detergents to a no dye no color laundry detergent like all free and clear or use Dreft, Your last resort is to see a ddermatologists and they can prescribe something
well try olay quench body lotion. ultra moisture. you could get it at bj's or walmart. but if that doesnt work or any other products i think maybe you should uhm see a dermatologist or something?

Try a lotion with a high aloe vera content as that is supposed to be very moisturizing. You can also buy pure aloe vera. (It'll ususally look like a gel, like the stuff you would put on a burn. It'll basically drench your skin in moisture so put it on before you go to bed and if you shower at night and put it on after that would be best although you may have to shower again in the morning)

Make sure when you exfoliate you aren't being too harsh on your skin, it'll just make it more irritated. Use a gentle scrub like St. Ives and use gentle pressure. always put a good lotion on after the shower.

If you're already doing all this and more and nothing is working, it might be time to ask your parents if you can see a dermatologist. If you have a chronic skin condition they can be the biggest help.

I have reli dry skin. i dont know wat 2 do at this stage it is getting sooo bad! i use exfoliation ...?
Is your skin dry or do you just have dry visible patches which peel off?

Well, if you have really dry skin, you could replace moisturiser with an oil. They are some excellent oils you can put on your skin in the evening, before sleeping. They will moisturise your skin and also are full of vitamins.

You can try a rosehip oil. Just spread it on a clean face instead of night cream.

Some other oils good for dry skin are macadamia, jojoba, olive, sweet almond, apricot.

Make sure you drink a lot of water and avoid coffee and smoking.

If you have dry skin peeling off, it might be exzema. I got rid of mine by eliminating dairy from my diet.

I could advice more if I knew what you are eating, what is your life style and what cosmetics you use.

    Skin Exfoliation and Acne Scars?

Okay so I heard that if you exfoliate your skin that it helps with eliminating acne scars. And is it true that when you exfoliate your skin it leaves your skin glowing?

    ThanksSkin Exfoliation and Acne Scars?
too much exfoliation can actually cause you to have more acne. you shouldn't exfoliate more than once a week with a mild scrub. if you are looking to lighten scars, you need something with Hydroquinone. like the one attached from murad. the product is crazy expensive, but you don't use a lot on a daily basis, is sort of slow to work, but helped me a lot.

What's a good product for exfoliation?

St. Ives exfolliating cream with no sugar in it. It is smooth and easy to use, $5.49 at drugstores.
there is a store in the mall at origins. they have a FABULOUS product called Modern Friction. it works like a charm on me. it removes all dead skin stuff and other unwanted particles on your face, and it should help with acne scars. ask one of the workers to give you some samples to try it out, because you don't just want to buy the thing and it not work because on some people it doesn't work. it can be a little pricey, so that is why i am saying get some samples. their stuff is all natural, and they have many scrubs that could help with exfoliation, but please check it out.

As an Avon rep and Beauty Advisor, I suggest you try Clearskin Correct and Fade peel by Avon.

Here is the product description: Fights existing acne, and helps visibly peel away post-acne damage to uncover clear, smooth, more even-looking skin...

St. Ives is the best !

    [ive used the apricot scrub]

they have a variety of products %26amp; scrubs

and they even make some for sensitive skin

you can really feel the scrub working too!
Personally, I like the facial and exfoliation scrubs from a shop called Lush. They don't test on animals, most of their stuff is vegan and they are really eco-friendly. The scrubs really work though. My skin feels so smooth! Cupcake is good for spots, Brazened Honey is good for sensitive skin and Love Lettuce is good for oily skin. There are lots of different ones to try.

Lush also does bath bombs, soaps, shower gels, hair stuff etc.
    TRY DROVE OR OLAY

    THAT STUFF WORK GREAT
I like St. Ives Apricot Scrub. Its gentle enough to use everyday and it leaves your skin smooth and glowing.

after your exfoliate/wash your face, wait for it to dry (or pat it dry).

Then apply your toner, wait until it dries.

    Then your moisturizer.

You can repeat through out the day, depending on your skin. If you have dry skin, don't use too much toner, you can skip toning and go straight to using your moisturizer.

Sometimes when my skin is too dry, I skip toning and just apply my moisturizer after washing my face.

Can over exfoliation cause more breakouts?

If you rub the skin too hard and aggravate existing blemishes, you can spread bacteria and clog pores.

Which one is more beneficial? dry skin brushing or exfoliation with a salt scrub?

dry skin brushing can really damage your skin if its not done right. if you want a great exfoliation, i recommend olay's at home microdermabrasion kit. its pricey, but if used twice a week you will see some great results and very lovely skin!

if you want daily exfoliation - use a cleansing cloth such as olay daily facials or avveno positively radiant. they have a smooth side and a scrubby side and they are for daily use. these have really helped my skin!Which one is more beneficial? dry skin brushing or exfoliation with a salt scrub?
Both do well if applied correctly.

Do facial peels/exfoliation have any effect on keloids?

First, here's a little history on keloids.

Keloids were described by Egyptian surgeons about 1700 BCE. Baron Jean Louis Alibert (1768-1837) identified the keloid as an entity in 1806. He called them cancroide. Later he changed the name to cheloide to avoid the connotation of cancer. The word is derived from the Greek chele, meaning crab's claw, and the suffix -oid, meaning like. His clinic at the Hospital St.Louis was for many years the world鈥檚 centre for dermatology.

These keloid scars are more visible on the skin surface that is raised and very unsightly. It is caused by overgrowth of the flesh from which an injury occurred. The skin can be damaged by breakouts and acne keloid scars develop on the spot where the pimple appeared. Your acne may be treated but leaves a reminder of your acne experience and these scars are very difficult to treat.

Although keloid acne are difficult to treat, you can make them less visible and noticeable over time when the bump becomes even on the surface skin. A technique which can help you lose that nasty keloid out of your face. Applying pressure on the bump for a period of time for around 3 to 5 minutes, do this three times a day. You can see results after a week and you can a difference and noticeable results.

So, from what I've researched, a chemical peel/exfoliating will not harm the keloid. My suggestion is not to rub the chemical too hard into the keloid which can probably irritate it and cause it to itch as keloids often do.

    Hope this helps,

    ~K~

usually the particals in a daily wash with exfoliator should only be used by people who have skin problems or open pores.. if you don't don't use it. when you exfoliate daily you do not exfoliate 2 times a week, however you should twice a week use a moisturising mask.

Exfoliating is pretty much using a scrub that gets rid of old dead skin cells and clears build up. Most people exfoliate about twice a week. It's just any other cleanser, you wash your face with it, nothing fancy.

Most exfoliants will have tiny ';beads'; that help get dead skin off cause they scrub more. A good brand to try to St. Ives. You can get it at any department/drug/grocery store.
Agree with everything said above. But be careful, do it gently on the spots were you have acne, as exfoliating could bring some irratation too.

    Good luck)
Exfoliating is the removal of dead skin. Usually once or twice a week is sufficient. It may help your acne.

Lactic acid and alpha hydroxy acid can help.

I would recommend using a Buf-Puf type product and exfoliating your skin and then applying some lotion. Try Am-Lactin. You can even buy it at Target near the pharmacy area.Little bumps on skin like goosebumps.... exfoliation doesnt work?
Rub iodine (get the clear one) on them. It will dry them out and then they will fall off.
My little brother used to get those a lot in the summer time. I just chalked it up to excessive sweating and not scrubbing hard enough in the shower. In the shower use the palm of your hand and rub the area (no soap just water) the dirt will probably start to rub off (assuming its the same thing my brother had). After you rub away the ';little dirty bumpies'; try using an exfoliant every day on your body...it helps a lot.

It doesn't sound like anything serious, its just a little dirt/sweat trapped under the skin.
    Moisturize.
Never saw them on the hips, but on the upper arms, some times they are like small pimples, if u squeeze them a white thing will come out ( like fat), if they are that kind, you might want to scrub a little harder with loofa or similar. If not this kind , I don't know about those. Normally happens on younger people . I had them when I was a teenager -up to early twenties. My both kids hv them one is 12 and the other one is 17. The 17 is almost outgrowing. They only have them in the aupper arms, and more during summer.

    Hope it helps.
my brother also has those! the doctor's explanation was that the tiny hairs covering the body is having a hard time going out the pores because the pores are blocked.

she prescribes physiogel or cetaphil cream applied over the areas twice a day for a month or until it disappears and to prevent using pore-clogging products such as heavily scented lotions.

good luck and i hope my answer may be of help.

Face exfoliation and skin break out?

Is it normal to initially have skin break outs after using an exfoliator/peel? It seems to happen to me no matter what products I use. I get a blemish or two and then some, swollen reddened pores, after a few uses they diminish. Just wondering if this is normal when you use these products or if I am using the wrong products for my skin? Any thoughts on this?Face exfoliation and skin break out?
It is often the case that when you first start a new treatment process that the skin takes time to get used to it. Ideally, it is best to use the treatment less frequently to see if that helps or stop totally and consult a doctor.

For the topic of specifically face exfoliation, there's a great article that goes into explaining the whys about it and talks about good ways to do it: http://www.cureacneathome.com/acne-preve鈥?/a>Face exfoliation and skin break out?
Little tip, if something makes your skin break out. DON'T USE IT. Use an acne fighting cleanser and an acne fighting moisturizer every day twice a day (when you wake up, and before you go to bed). You will see a major improvement. You shouldn't over load your skin with too many products. This would result in very dry skin or very oily skin (which leads to pimples/zits). If you like getting facials, review your options for a more sensitive treatment or something for acne. Get a facial every 3 months if you must.
Maybe you're skin is just too sensitive and you're not using the right exfoliant for you're skin type. I think the best would be is to go to a beauty therapist and explain you're situation. They usually know what products is best for certain skin types
