Skin exfoliation?

I'm going to the beach in about a month, %26amp; I want my skin to be super smooth so I can get a nice even tan and look good in my bikini :]

Is there any kind of exfoliating scrub I could use all over that would really make my skin healthy and even? What brand? How long should I use it leading up to the beach?

鈾?Clare.Skin exfoliation?
Use a mesh body puff in the shower or bath. These are the best and gently exfoliate your skin. Use a good body wash like Dove or Aveeno. Since you have a month, that is plenty of time to make your skin really soft. You could also use a good body lotion like Aveeno or Nivea after your shower or bath.Skin exfoliation?
I use St. Ives Apricot face scrub once a week...
This is what I do for my skin and hair:

Do you want a clean and glowing face? Then,...

Mash papaya until u get a smooth texture. (Mash maybe 2 slices)

Then mix sugar in until u get a fine, grainy feeling.

Massage and apply on ur face until u have a thin mask

Wait 20 min, then rinse

Repeat 3 times a week

You will have glowing face in 2 weeks.

Dry and spotted skin

Mix dry oatmeal (you may grind it in a blender), honey and plain yogurt to make a paste. Spread it over your face and neck, leave on 15 鈥?30 minutes then rinse with lukewarm water.

HAIR:

For Damaged Hair

Mash a ripe banana with a few drops of almond oil and massage into hair. Leave it for about 15 minutes. Rinse with soda water and then shampoo and condition.

Dry Hair Mix 1 tablespoon of honey in half cup of full cream milk. Massage on the scalp and leave it for 15 minutes. Wash with a mild shampoo.

Combine 1 banana, 1 egg, 1/4 cup honey, about 3 Tbs of milk and about 5 Tbs spoons of olive oil. Massage on the scalp and leave it for 15 minutes. Wash with a mild shampoo.

  • What is exfoliation?

Well i have red on some of the beauty products available on the market ' EXFOLIATION/EFOLIATING ' ? what is this all about ? I just want to know on the grounds of curiosity thats it..What is exfoliation?
its the sloffing off of dead skin. typically by means of a loofa, a scrubbing cloth, or some form of exfoliating wash. shaving actually does the same thing, too. What is exfoliation?
its rubbing the top dead layer of skin off to leave skin nice and smooth

    Does regular exfoliation help acne?

I'm using neutrogena acne therapy system, it works well, but I have acne marks. Will exfoliating my face help the acne and marks go away? I would be using St. Ives apricot scrub.

Thanks =)Does regular exfoliation help acne?
Yes. When you wash your face, use sugar to scrub it, at least once a day, for two weeks to rid yourself of acne. Check out http://useinfo-acne.blogspot.com/ for more useful info.Does regular exfoliation help acne?

I just got one and yes i do love it. It really does leave my legs feeling very smooth. I have just a little trouble around the knees tho and sometimes use my regular razor to make sure I have removed all the hair froms on the knees!!!Is the exfoliation head of the Philips HP6475 Satin Ice Epilator any good?
Sash.. Are you talking specifically about the exfoliator head?? It sounds odd that you would use a razor on the knees instead of an exfoliator to exfoliate

thanks for your asnwer all the same, but it jkinda sounds like you're talking about the entire epilator

Facial (Cleansing, toning, moisturizing, steaming, exfoliation, bleaching?

facial (Cleansing, toning, moisturizing, steaming, exfoliation, bleaching)Arrange them in order and also plz. Let me know that after each of them I should wash my face with lukewarm water or cold water鈥?how many days prior to my anniversary I should do facial so that I can get best result on my anniversary

    ,

Facial (Cleansing, toning, moisturizing, steaming, exfoliation, bleaching?
Cleansing, toning and moisturing (with sunscreen should already be apart of your daily routine, two times a day every day.

Exfoliating, depending on your skin type should only be done 1-2 times per week. If you are going for a deep exfoliation you may need to do this a week before- go to a derm doctor for anything really serious.

I wouldn't (hair) on the same day as you anniversary because it may irritate your skin. I would bleach 3 days before or go to a professional salon to wax for a smoother feel.

steaming is best for acne to get rid of blackheads- I'd also do this 3 days before. Use hot water to open up your pores before exfoliation and deep cleansing. Use cool water to close your pore after the process. Don't leave your pores with out a final cool down becuase dirt can get in them and cause skin issues.

2 days before, cleasnse (warm), exfoliate, clease (cool), tone, moisturize. Continue your daily routine until your big day.

Congrats!Facial (Cleansing, toning, moisturizing, steaming, exfoliation, bleaching?
Wash, steam, tone, moisturize. OR wash, exfoliate, tone, moisturize.

Bleaching? If you're using a cream it's usually twice a day on clean skin.

If you don't get them regularly, sometimes a facial can bring impurities up to the surface of your Skin. You might also have redness or tiny marks from pimple/blackhead squeezing. Allow enough days for this to clear up before your anniversary.
always wash your face with lukewarm water..do it 2 days b4.

    Oily skin and exfoliation ?

I have oily skin on my forehead and my nose tends to get very oily. I am also acne-prone. Saying that, how many times a week should I exfoliate?Oily skin and exfoliation ?
Exfoliating the skin will cause it to become more oily and irritated. I would not exfoliate your skin unless it has to be done. In that case you should gently use a wash cloth and not an exfoliating product.

  • I'm an 21 years old Indian(f).I get exfoliation done once a month.I wanted to know the right age for facials.

Nope, it's never too early to start your own set of skin care routines----including doing regular facials. I started doing facials when I turned 18, because I used to play outdoor sports in high school and acquired a few brown age spots. At that age, I even started using eye creams with significant amount of antioxidants, because, after studying skin structure and researching skin care routines and products, I discovered (based on the ingredients list and what I learned from College Chemistry classes) that eye creams---and even antioxidant serums----don't do anything for wrinkle correction. So my strategy was to use those products for prevention instead. As for the exfoliation, for better results, you should do that at home, too, 2-3 times a week with glycolic acid (AHA, in about 5%-8% concentration with a pH balance of 3 to 4, is best for cellular renewal and brown spots, and BHA is a better exfoliation for acne control).

Take good care of your skin now, prevention is ALWAYS more effective than correction. If you wait 'til after the big 30, it will be impossible to reverse the 10-year skin damage (from age 20-30 time period)----regardless of what the commercials and advertisements claim about skin care products.I'm an 21 years old Indian(f).I get exfoliation done once a month.I wanted to know the right age for facials.
There is no special ageI'm an 21 years old Indian(f).I get exfoliation done once a month.I wanted to know the right age for facials.
You can try an at home facial and see if you like the results. I recommend Burt's Bees 3 step facial: first is an orange cleanser, then a vegetable based scrub then a clay mask. For under $30 you can get each of the three products and they will last you for months.

They even sell kits for $10 with trial size contaniners of each product: Burt's Bees Mini Facial Kit...available at Target, Whole Foods, sometimes Barnes %26amp; Noble and CVS.
age isn't really the question {ya people under 12 probably don't need one } its when you understand whats occurring and whether or not you want to go through with it. It may not improve your face much right now but it also won't do any harm.. Have fun
I can tell you that don't do facial regularly at this age. Occasionally you can go for it (up to 30). But after 30 you should do facial once in a month. I think it will help you. I learnt it from a beauty guide book.
you dont have to be a certain age to get a facial...

    Alpha hydroxy acids and exfoliation?

Alpha hydroxy acids increase your skin's susceptibility to the sun, and can cause irritation, right? Is it okay to exfoliate and then use a mosturizer containing alpha hydroxy acids, or will this be too harsh on my skin? Suggestions...

What are the other ingredients in your moisturizer?

MOST beauty products on the market have harmful chemicals in them; do your favorite beauty products contain any of these things?:

    * Mineral Oil, Paraffin %26amp; Petrolatum – Petroleum products coat the skin like plastic, clogging pores and creating a build-up of toxins, which in turn accumulate and can lead to dermatological issues, like slowing cellular development, which can cause you to show earlier signs of aging, and vitamin deficiency. Suspected cause of cancer %26amp; disruptive of hormonal activity. Mineral oils contain hydrocarbons, a real danger to the stomach and especially the lungs.

    * PARABENS – Such as methyl- propyl- butyl- %26amp; ethyl- parabens: Widely used as preservatives in the cosmetic industry (including moisturizers). An estimated 13,200 cosmetic and skin care products contain parabens. Studies implicate their connection with cancer. They have hormone-disrupting qualities – mimicking estrogen – and interfere with the body’s endocrine system.

    * Propylene Glycol – Used as a moisturizer in cosmetics and as a carrier in fragrance oils. Shown to cause dermatitis, kidney or liver abnormalities, may inhibit skin cell growth, and is a skin irritant and sensitizer.

    * ALCOHOLS – Such as Isopropyl Alcohol, SD Alcohol 40, Ethyl Alcohol: Alcohols dissolve the body’s natural moisturizers and strip the skin of its protection, leaving it vulnerable to infection. Alcohols destroy skin’s pH balance, and since they absorb water, they speed up wrinkling.

    * Sodium laurel or lauryl sulfate (SLS), also known as sodium laureth sulfate (SLES) – Found in car washes, engine degreasers, garage floor cleaners… and in OVER 90% of personal care products! SLS breaks down the skin’s moisture barrier, easily penetrates the skin, and allows other chemicals to easily penetrate. Combined with other chemicals, SLS becomes a “nitrosamine”, a potent class of carcinogen. It can also cause hair loss. SLES is sometimes disguised with the labeling “comes from coconut” or “coconut-derived'; - and is found in many popular body washes and toothpastes!

    * Toluene – Poison! Danger! Harmful or fatal if swallowed! Harmful if inhaled or absorbed through the skin. Made from petroleum or coal tar, and found in most synthetic fragrances. Chronic exposure linked to anemia, lowered blood cell count, liver or kidney damage, and may affect a developing fetus. Butylated hydroxytoluene (BHT) contains toluene. Other names may include benzoic and benzyl.

    * WAXES – Such as Paraffin, Candelilla Wax, Carnuba Wax: Waxes are widely used in cleansing creams, eye creams, and moisturizers. Waxes clog pores, creating blackheads and whiteheads. They also smother the skin, which over time creates an enlarged pore problem.

    * FD%26amp;C – When this abbreviation precedes the name of a color, it means that the FDA (Food and Drug Administration) has certified it as safe for use in drugs and cosmetics, but not food. D%26amp;C colors are usually synthetic, coal tar colors. They’re toxic and should be avoided when at all possible.

    * PHTHALATES – These chemicals rarely find their way onto an ingredients list, but they are present in many health and beauty products just the same. Wherever you see “perfume” or “fragrance,” phthalates are present, because they are used to preserve these synthetic scents. Recent studies have shown that phthalates may be mutagenic, carcinogenic, and adversely affect male sperm, that they increase levels of testosterone and estrogen in humans, and are central to breast cancer risk. They are an ingredient in nail polish and other lacquers, and in soft plastics (e.g., infant chew toys).

    * Lanolin – A yellow, semi-solid, fatty secretion from sheep’s wool is widely used in skin and beauty care products. It can cause an allergic reaction in some people, as well as enlarged pores.

    * Acetone – Used in nail polish and nail polish removers, this colorless, volatile liquid is often used in astringents, fresheners, or clarifying lotions. It is extremely toxic and will dehydrate the skin, while speeding up the aging process.

    * Acrylamide – Found in many hand and face creams. Linked to mammary tumors in lab research.

    * Phenol carbolic acid – Found in many lotions and skin creams. Can cause circulatory collapse, paralysis, convulsions, coma and even death from respiratory failure.

    * Dioxane – Found in compounds known as PEG, Polysorbates, Laureth, ethoxylated alcohols. Common in a wide range of personal care products. The compounds are usually contaminated with high concentrations of highly volatile 1,4-dioxane, easily absorbed through the skin. Dioxane’s carcinogenicity was first reported in 1965 and later confirmed in studies including one from the National Cancer Institute in 1978. Nasal passages and liver are the most vulnerable. Dioxane is easily removed during the manufacturing process by “vacuum stripping”. Warning: It is a synthetic derivative of coconut. Watch for hidden language on labels, such as “comes from coconut”.

IF SO, you should throw them away IMMEDIATELY and Tell ALL your friends and family!!! (Extra-virgin olive and/or coconut oils are great alternative moisturizers, and they contain natural sunscreens, until you find something else without these toxins) Hope this helps!!! Good Luck!!!!!

    What is exfoliation?

Don't get it. What exactly is it? I hear about it a lot but, I have no clue what it is. Can someone explain it to me in full detail? Does it have to do something with skin? What is exfoliation?
It means being shed from a surface in scales or layers. In other words, to exfoliate your skin means to remove the dead cells from its surface using something such as brush or a special cream. What is exfoliation?
    http://spas.about.com/od/spatreatmentbas鈥?/a>
Removing dead skin cells that clog pores and cause acne.
The removal of dead skin cells.
get a washcloth and scrub skin =you are now exfoliating
yes, it's skin related. it is usually done with a ';scrub'; and dead skin comes off. this process should be gentle so that u don't turn red or anything. this is common to do to ur body before you self-tan (fake-n-bake)

or use a pumice stone for dry cracked feet/heels.
Yes, it is every thing to do with skin. Exfoliation is a process of removing dead cells, which is from the epidermis (outer most layer of skin)
It means to remove the dead outler layers of skin. Can be done with something like a loofa sponge.
Getting rid of the dead skin cells on your face

Thanks =)Does regular exfoliation help acne?
I think exfoliation irritates acneDoes regular exfoliation help acne?
Yeah, it helps my acne go away by removing more dirt, oil and dead skin cells.
You can exfoliate daily if you want although it depends on your skin type. don't over irritate it if you are sensitive. Just remember to moisturize with a non-oil based lotion. I like to use those asian cloth exfoliation glove things. Works great. Believe me, if you exfoliate daily and moisturize immediately afterwards with a good lotion you'll notice the additional benefit right away.

Acne is created by clogged pores and the bacteria that live in them. And those bacteria create the clogged pores so it's a vicious circle. If you dry your skin out, it'll also clog the pores. So the best way is to clean your pores often and exfoliation helps that. Moisturizing helps keep your skin naturally moist so that oils from your pores can come out. And washing it daily or twice a day helps keep the oils from drying out and clogging your pores.

Think of skin care as constantly keeping your pores clog free and your skin moist. And also keeping it away from sun damage.
exfoliating will def help get rid of dry skin or flake skin and then scars will become less apparent like in a chemical peel, all they do is peel off dead skin and poof bye bye acne scars. make sure you moisturize! =]
I use the same scrub and I use it once a week. It will work, but don't use it too much, it'll dry out your skin.

Yes it would make the acne go away but not the scars. You would have to use some type of skin renewal serum for that. But apricot scrubs are waaay to harsh on anyones skin. You should use an acne medicated exfoliator. And even though you have oily skin, you should always moisturize to prevent further irritation.

Theres a product called Murad. Also Patricia Wexler's acne line worked wonders for me!

Is this exfoliation stuff really bad?

    http://www.ciao.co.uk/St_Ives_Apricot_Exfoliating_Body_Wash__5344924

someone said its really bad :(Is this exfoliation stuff really bad?
Actually that stuff works really well, just don't use it too often (like, every day) or it will dry out your skin.

Use it only on your body and not on your face. They have other stuff that works well on your face, but the same rule applies: don't use it everyday!

    Exfoliation products or methods??

I don't understand what products or methods are used to exfoliate. Are products that Salicylic Acid or Alpha Hydroxy Acid exfolients? Or is there special products that I need to look for. Should I look for specific scrubs, cleansers, or home microdermabrasion kits to exfoliate? Are there products that I should specifically look for to treat acne or wrinkles or both?Exfoliation products or methods??
Exfoliation is only for removing out your dead skin on face or other parts of you body.

I use St. Ives products! They're very affordable yet very effective. They have a lot of scrubs depending on your skin type. They have salicylic acid in their products. I suggest you go visit their website at stives.com.Exfoliation products or methods??
Bliss is a spa in NY but you can buy their products in sephora or on the bliss website. They make this great face scrub called Pore perfecting face polish. Its expensive but it shrinks pores, gives a healthy dewy glow and scrubs without drying or making ruddiness.
Salicylic Acid is commpnly used to treat acne prone skin and yes Alpha Hydroxy Acid has good exfoliating properties. Email me at megdhanusi@yahoo.com and I will be able to send you information on really good line of hair products. I will reply you back with the link of the site you can buy them from. You will see the results in few uses. All products comes with claimes of how much improvement you will see and in how much time. No other products makes such accurate claims. It comes with 100% satisfraction guarantee, or you will get full refund on retail price even if you have used half the bottle.
Those acids are not traditional exfoliants, they are usually used to treat acne. I would not suggest micro dermabrasion, it is much more harsh way of extremely exfoliating that is usually not the best option for most people. It all depends on your skin type, so its hard to give you a very specific answer about what you should do. Everyone's skin can benefit form exfoliating, the question is just how often to do it and that depnds on your skin. Dove has a exfoliating facewash that is gentle enough to be used everyday, and if you have really good skin i would say that is a simple and inexpensive method. If you tend to have problems with your skin, I would suggest using all-natural products such as aveda or espa. Aveda skin products are really great for your skin, they work well and are (i believe) affordable. I love espa products, which is a European company you will probably have to look up online, they are only 7 or so salons in the country that sell their products. the one i know of is in cleveland called spa west, and you can call them and order any products and they will ship it to you. Th eproduct i would recommend for you is called skin polish, which is actually made of crushed sea shells. it is the best exfoliant i have ever used, but i love all their facial products. they have amazing products for aging as well, so if you are interested you could get their introduction set that gives you a sample of everything for a decent price. Espa is definitely on the more expensive side, but because they use essential oils it is all very concetrated and you will use a lot less than other products. Good luck!

I don't get what it is?What's an exfoliation dome. What's an example of one?
exfoliation dome: a dome-shaped hill typically with a bare rock surface, typically developed in massive coarse-grained rocks (like granites) by the process of exfoliation. Other exfoliation domes include Stone Mountain, Georgia and Independence Rock, Wyoming. Half Dome in Yosemite is apparently half on an exfoliation dome (hence the name); one side appears to have been sheared away by a glacier.

Please can someone help me - skin exfoliation disater1!!!!?

Well my skin is really dull looking and i have quite a few spots/pimples. Please can some people list some hoem made remedies to help my skin look:

    Glowing

    Spot-free

    smooth

Thankyou in advance i really need some help!!!

Thanks....:DPlease can someone help me - skin exfoliation disater1!!!!?
    I would recommend 2 things:

For softer skin and a brighter complexion, try a homemade scrub of baking soda and water (the hardest part is getting the consistency right). Just wash your face with warm water first, leave it wet, put a little baking soda in your palm, add some water and work it into your face gently in circular motions. If you need to, add more water, or more baking soda, don't scrub too hard, and try not to scrub your blemishes at all. Rinse very well (the baking soda can be a bit stubborn) and then use a light, non-comedegenic moisturizer. Your skin will be very soft and smooth.

For your blemishes you can try applying a little bit of apple cider vinegar diluted in water on a cotton ball or swab.

Good luck! Please can someone help me - skin exfoliation disater1!!!!?

wash your face use a toner and a moisturizer .

for spots, if nothing off the counter works go to a dermatologist.

everytime someone says doctor they get turned away bcuz they dont want to put in the time and money.

everyone's looking for the easy way out but the truth is most home remedies and over the counter products dont do much .

if you REALLY want perfect skin u HAVE TO GO TO THE DERM !

smooth ... once a week, take a little bit of baking soda, add some water, and massage all over your face.

    will be very smooth.

    moisturize.

only do once a week or you will start peeling like crazy and it will be very very painful .

to cover all these problems u can jsut go to the derm and just tell him what you want and he can give u meds. or procedures its rly not that big of a deal .

Let me tell you something not many people know,

When you try to wash the oil off your wash using soap or

any store brought product what happends is it sucks up alot of the natural oils

out of your skin, and what happends when that occurs? your

skin goes into over time trying to reblimish the lost oil

and doubles the amount, your pores open up more to get more of the oil out and air in so let me help you

Ah ok well my mother had the same problem as you,

and let me tell you what she did to make it stop,

this is a home treatment of course, the only thing

you may need to buy is a lemon if you dont already have some in the fridge,

what you want to do is get some lemon and squeez that

sucker into a tiny bit of honey, and mix that all together, put that

into the area where you want treated and wait 5-10 mins and than wash off,

the lemon works great as a toner and as we all know toners are

great for tighthing the skin and even better for your pores to look

smaller, the honey helps as an evener, it will even out the uneven

skin tone and also sooths the skin,This teachique not only destorys the pimples you already

have but it also helps prevent them from coming up again,Drinking alot of water

every day also helps alot :) Well I hope this helps %26lt;3 good luck

    Anything Neutrogena!
Yes, I jut recently started using it and I love it. I have dry %26amp; sensitive skin and it exfoliates without completely ripping all the moisture out of my face. However, I would be sure only to use it every other day or so (at least with a dry/sensitive skin type), more frequent use might be too harsh and drying.

The reason I tried Biore products is because I read an article that recommended Biore as one of the drugstore skin care brands with department store brand quality.
I use everything Biore. I havent been unsatisfied at all. I use the Blemish fighting Ice cleanser and Pore Perfect Foaming Cleanser (in the squeeze bottle/not pump), the Toner, Moisturizer and Clay Mask LOL I plan on picking up the exfoliator soon too. It seems gentle enough for every night use.

You can also use St. Ives, which I use right now. Its very abrasive .. so I only use it 2 times a week.

Exfoliation before or after waxing ?

what is the correct thing to do - exfoliate before or after waxing ; what is the scientific reason behind it ?Exfoliation before or after waxing ?
You should exfoliate before waxing and after waxing. You want to exfoliate no less than 24 hours before waxing. After waxing you should wait atleast 48 hours before exfoliating. This is because the skin may be sensitive. Also depending on where you waxed - you should refrain from being in hot baths for atleast 24 hours. Hope I helped!Exfoliation before or after waxing ?
both...u want ot exfoliate before but not right before, to get all the grime away from the hair so it can be plucked out from the root. after to keep ingrowns and pimples away since u now have an exposed pore where the hair follicle was. u don't what to exfoliate right before because u don't want tender skin that can lift and come off as u pull the strip away.

If so...what type of moisturizer? Is daily exfoliation too much?...can i make my own scrub?
What you need to do is wash ur face with a daily gel clenser.

No daily exfoliation is not the remedy because it will just irritate your skin. And get a light moisturizer with no oil in it.

Plus you can make your own scrub by adding some sugar to any cream you have preferebly body or face lotion

Why is it that teeth treated with formocresol pulpotomy had earlier exfoliation than those with IPT ?

IPTs seems to have better success rates than FPs in recent studies. Why is it that teeth treated with formocresol pulpotomy had earlier exfoliation than those with IPT ?
Formocresol pulpotomy is a procedure done on baby teeth. Do you have a molar coming in funny?

If it is really bad they can extract it, implant a post, let it heal and attatch a ';tooth'; to it later, but that is pretty extreme.

If these are still your baby teeth, it's different, because adult teeth will grow in when you lose them.

What are the effects of OVER-exfoliation?

Most people exfoliate their skin to get rid of dry patchy areas. Over exfoliating your skin can lead to two possible problems: even more dry skin because you've taken some essential moisture out of the skin or sore, tender areas that you've made even more prone to breakouts.

Ideally you should only exfoliate once or twice a week with a mild product. Otherwise you might overkill your skin. What are the effects of OVER-exfoliation?
no harsh effects but not advisable...if you tend to get redness means ur having a sensitive skin...i exfoliateevery two days but have no negative effects maybe because my skin is thick...but some peopletheir skin tends ti get dry..if youre talking about glove exfoliator go slow..maybe once a week will do..but if you're using mild granules you can use is twice to three times a week! good luck! cheers! What are the effects of OVER-exfoliation?
    Dry, irritated,red,scaly skin.

Can shaving daily serve as a means of exfoliation?

I noticed I'm more prone to breakouts when I dont shave regularly. Can shaving daily serve as a means of exfoliation?
No, not really. It just.. scrapes your skin. Exfoliation is removing the dead skin from your face. Exfoliators often contain beta hydroxy acids which are lipid soluble and go through the pores in your face and purify your pores. It could be feasible that shaving gets dead skin away, though. Now that I think about it.. the oil in your facial hair may clog pores on your face and keeping the hair trimmed minimizes oils all over your face. Yeah, it's more believable that it keeps your hair from spreading oil than it actually exfoliates. It's actually suggested that you exfoliate before shaving. Can shaving daily serve as a means of exfoliation?
    I don't think so :/

But i only shave once every few days and i still act the same lol
Not really. There is no substitute for a good face washing with the right kind of soap.
    yeah it exfoliates as well
    Yes.
Well when you shave, 20% of what you shave is skin so it does exfoliate in that sense.

No opinions just facts.... whats better for skin exfoliation a loofah or sugar scrub?

loofahNo opinions just facts.... whats better for skin exfoliation a loofah or sugar scrub?
A loofah is not going to get as much dead skin off as a scrub would. A loofah is made to just be a more ruff cleansing cloth, where a scrub is made to get deep down into pores. No opinions just facts.... whats better for skin exfoliation a loofah or sugar scrub?

I use sugar. I hear salt works good. My friend's dermatologist actually recommended sugar to her, which is why I started using it. It makes my skin feel great and works better than toner in getting makeup out of my pores!
glycolic pads usually cause irratation and don't give your skin that just scrubbed fresh feeling! Look for a product that has ';micro beads'; b/c these won't scratch your skin like a lot of harsh scrubs do. Also, a simple wash rag will do the trick!~
I like clinique's Jentle toner/exfoliant.#2. You can also add cane suagar to your favorite cleanser..i perfer a creamy cleanser if thats the case.
scrubs spread bacteria so they're not great if you get spots, they also just remove flakyness, not do much the dead skin cells, and they make you go all red!

I was watching Ellen yesterday %26amp; this author of hollywood secrets was on saying that if you put kitty litter (the unscented kind ....and clean) and water (i think it was) that it makes a good exfoliator.

I dont know about that all...

However, you need to drink water. That's the reason why you have dry skin. Drinking soda not only hurts your stomach, it damages your teeth, causes pimples, and so much other things.

In fact, once I literally drank nothing but Coke for 3 days and I was sick. I was falling from dizzy spells, throwing up, and I had no energy. Now, I realize that it was probably all that sugar I was consuming.

Anyways, I'm starting to ramble. Start drinking water!
Where do you plan on using it?

Eucerin in the white bottle with the turquoise cap is good - and very suitable for dry skin.

    http://www.eucerinus.com/products/hb_plu鈥?/a>

you can use this on the face too - I do in the winter when I'm dryer....

Also, you can use plain old white sugar - the kind you use in the kitchen.....apply about a teaspoon onto a wet face and scrub gently in small circles....it will usually dissolve before you overexfoliate. Rinse well. Make sure the counters are wiped down well too if youre prone to ants in the house (which is why I use it in the shower....)

For eye cream I use very tiny dabs of Vitamin A and D ointment (like for baby butts) applied while the skin is wet (after I wash my face) - - this time of year its great stuff for dry hands as well

I recently bought myself an epilator but i am now getting a lot of ingrown hairs on my legs. I was told I needed to get exfoliator pads. Is this what I need to stop it? Also where can I buy them from? If anyone knows how I can stop the hairs ingrowing so I can go back to having nice smooth legs it will be greatly appreciated. Thank youExfoliation?
Go to a pharmacy, something like CVS. Dove has some good exfoliation pads, so does St Ives. Try either skincare, or go to the bodywash sections. Get a body wash that exfoliates. If you have a lush store near you, [look at the website] Buy this thing called ';buffy'; it exfoliates and moisterizes so well. Also don't shave against the hairs, shave down-ward, use a goodshaving gell, like skintamite for dry or sensitive skin, and moisterize after. Also to fully avoid them at all, try waxing or deplitory [veet or nair are good brands], cream to get rid of the hair instead. Goodluck!

What is the primary cause of mechanical exfoliation?

The removal by erosion of overlying rock and soil.

    Micodermabrasion or Exfoliation?

Hey i was told that microdermabrasion and exfoliation are to different things. But isnt Microdermabrasion the same exfoliation? they both exfoliate?Micodermabrasion or Exfoliation?
Yes, both exfoliate the skin, but microdermabrasion is a much more intense and deeper exfoliation.

A professinal microdermabrasion done in a spa, doctors' office, or medical spas concentrates on the stratum corneum (dead outermost surface of the skin). This partially or completely removes dead skin by light abrasion. Different methods include mechanical abrasion from jets of zinc oxide or aluminum oxide crystals, fine organic particles, or a roughened surface. Particles are removed off through the wand/handpiece through which the abrasive particles are suctioned.

Microdermabrasion can improve sun-damaged skin and remove or lessen scars and dark spots on the skin. The procedure is not very painful and requires no anaesthetic. Microdermabrasion can be used medically for scar removal when the scar is raised above the surrounding skin, but is less effective with sunken scars.

General exfoiliation with a scrub will remove dead skin cells, dirt, and residue but not to the extent that microdermabrasion does.

It is scrubbing off the top layer of your skin -i.e. the dead skin cells. Salt can be an easy home remedy to apply. There are many natural ingredients in scrubs such as black pepper and walnut shells, but I would look for a proper recipe and have a good blender to try those.
A dry brush exfoliation can be done in the morning before you shower. It eliminates dead skin cells and allows the skin to detox (skin is the largest organ of elimination).

Dry brush exfoliation also improves lymph and blood circulation and decreases puffiness. An added benefit is that the gentle pressure is calming to the nervous system! To give yourself a dry brush exfoliation, you'll need a soft, natural bristle brush.
Exfoliation is the light removal of dead surface skin cells. It should be done carefully and lightly. Don't start attacking your skin with heavy duty scratchy things. You can get creams and lotions to help with this, if you choose, that moisturise at the same time, etc. Various costs and various products, see, for example:

Exfoliation is when you remove dead skin cells from the skin and help new skin cells come to the surface. It stimulates the blood circulation and help make dull and dry skin look smooth and after exfoliation you need to moisturise afterwards. Use sometime like a body brush in the morning and evening. When using the body brush moving it up the body towards the heart.

Exfoliation is a way to remove dead skin, which leaves your skin soft and smooth. There is a lot of great products on the market to use, but if you'd like some home remedies, try these. On the face, I use ground-up oatmeal mixed with water or a mild soap. You need something gentle, as the skin on your face is very delicate. For the rest of the body, I use sugar mixed with olive oil. Simply mix equal parts regular sugar and olive oil and slather it on your body. I rub it all over, especially on my elbows, knees and feet. Rinse well and follow with a mild soap wash. You can use salt instead of sugar, but I wouldn't recommend it on freshly shaved legs or any place you have a cut!! Good luck.
Well you will probably think I'm mad but i use a Little scouring sponge. You know the ones wid the yellow on bottom green on top to exfoliate. by using circular motions all over my face. put it thro the machine b4 u use it. when you do start to use it DONT SCRUB do it gently thro time the green bit softens. and pop it in a boil wash in the machine every few days. Me and my sister do this every day and my skin looks fab. I cldnt not do it now its part of my daily routine. And would feel all the rubbish bits of skin x

I feel dumb for asking this question being a girl and all...but it's about exfoliation.?

What is exfoliation and how do you do it? Sorry if i spelt any of that wrong!I feel dumb for asking this question being a girl and all...but it's about exfoliation.?
Exfoliation involves the removal of the oldest dead skin cells on the skin's outermost surface, and has been used for ages to help maintain the skin. Exfoliation is involved in the process of a facial and during body treatments at spas. People of non-caucasian descent generally see better results from exfoliation, due to their faster skin production. It is recommended to maintain healthy skin at least twice a week, with a daily regimen recommended during the winter months.

You can use a very natural mixture at home to exfoliate when you shower:just mix sugar and some Johnson's baby oil.A friend of mine who is a cosmetologist told me about this home made recipe.

Don't forget your moisturizer afterwards!!!It's really important!I feel dumb for asking this question being a girl and all...but it's about exfoliation.?
Exfoliation is the removal of dead skin cells, old oil, and dried sebum [ skin wax ]; all of which clog pores.

It can be done with a store product [ such as apricot scrub - my favorite! - which includes a moisturizer too ], or sugar, kosher salt, and [ very very gently ] even with sand; mixed with some baby oil or lotion.

It makes the skin feel smoother, refines the texture, and can increase even-ness of skin color.

Best Advice to keep good skin:

1] use products designed for your skin type - oily, dry, sensitive, combination, normal - in face wash, body wash, toner, sunscreen, and moisturizers.

2] exfoliate entire body [ esp. face, elbows, knees, and feet ] at least once a week

    3] clean face before sleeping

    4] moisturize daily

5] avoid fried, fast, and junk food - even diet junk food

6] drink 1/2 gallon of water a day

7] take a daily multivitamin with minerals every day
    Exfoliation has several meanings:

    * Exfoliation (botany) describes the loss of leaves (or, in some cases, pieces of bark) from a plant.

    * Exfoliation (cosmetology), is a cosmetic technique aimed at removing dead skin cells from the face and body.

    * Exfoliation (geology) is a weathering process.

    * Exfoliation (material science) is the process responsible for breaking up particle aggregates.
Contrary to what some people have said, it's not the same as mosturising. Expholiation takes away all the dirt, oil, and dead skin cells out of your pores and makes your skin look fresher. It does this by means of tiny grains (or ';microbeads';, as most modern companies call them now) scraping the gunk out. The cream itself stops there being any damage to your skin by abrasion of the tiny beads and mousturises your skin. A popular (and very good) example would be Apricot Scrub. It's really good. I highly reccomend it.

Don't feel stupid I ask lots of dumb questions!
Lol... don't be embarassed. The concept is so simple :) It's those like creams you put on your face that have little balls/ specks or w.e you wanna call that stuff and they take away the dead skin cells. Ita a process that gives you soft nice skin and helps preventing zits. :D
It's a thing you use on your face to get rid of the first layer of dead skin. it doesn't hurt, it just gets rid of the dirt and makes your skin smooth and feeling good. I probably explained that badly but oh well.... lol

exfoliation is when the skin wears away or comes off either naturally by itself or by using a product to help remove the skin.

This can be done anywhere on the body.
You know those scrub-face washes? Like St. Ives Apricot scrub? It's a wash that has little ';beads'; in it so they will scrub the dead skin off your face. That is exfoliating.
    It means moisturising :D

Just buy a good skin moisturiser and use it every day after shower ;)

Edit: Nevermind my answer, turns out I myself have no clue lol

I just started using aha cream, can I do my regular weekly exfoliation scrub, and mask. What about steaming?

I am 27 years old, and very fair skinned.I just started using aha cream, can I do my regular weekly exfoliation scrub, and mask. What about steaming?
As we get older, our skin renewal process slows down often times causing a flaky, dull, lack luster complexion. This build up of dead skin cells need to be sloughed off in order to encourage cell production and improve our skin鈥檚 texture along with diminishing the appearance of fine lines. Skin that is not exfoliated can inhibit moisture from penetrating and make up from going on smoothly. Exfoliation is vital for a radiant, glowing complexion. Alpha Hydroxy Acids work as exfoliants by speeding up the skin鈥檚 own natural shedding process (which slows down as we get older), thereby encouraging the skin to shed its surface coating of dead cells and replacing them with new ones at a faster rate. AHAs effectively moisturizes dry and severely dry skin, reduces the amount of superficial wrinkles, improves skin texture and tone, helps manage oily and acne skin problems, unblocks and cleanses the pores, helps reduce skin discoloration and age spots. Try the site below for more information about exfoliation. Good luck!I just started using aha cream, can I do my regular weekly exfoliation scrub, and mask. What about steaming?
When you are using AHA cream you have to be careful with exfoliation as AHA exfoliate your skin already. You can do exfoliation every other week and steaming once a month. That will be enough. Using masks is OK. Don't forget sunscreen when using AHA during daytime.

Try and see for yourself. If your skin is reacting OK, then you can do all of the above as I recommended.

What are the effects of over-exfoliation?

Not one little bit. I had discoloration and the only truly effective treatment was to massage it over and over many times and that made it fade. If you can do for 5min several times a day you will get quite quick fading. Overtime treatment completely got rid of mine. Use any oil, olive or vegetable oil will work well.

You're only doing it to the dead skin cells on top, not the living ones. Why is exfoliation danerous?
Exfoliation can only be dangerous if the product you're using causes irritation of the skin, in which case it is best to try other related products until you achieve desired results. Also, too much exfoliation can cause irritation to occur, so don't scrub too hard and only apply skin care product as needed. Why is exfoliation danerous?
when you've rubbed all the dead skin away then continue to rub, you are basically damaging the new, healthy cells - making your skin raw. creating tiny scratches that open your skin to germs and invaders.

How often can I use this exfoliation stuff?

    http://www.ciao.co.uk/St_Ives_Apricot_Exfoliating_Body_Wash__5344924

every day? or what? How often can I use this exfoliation stuff?
Depend what they said on the proudcts if they said daily then you use it everday. If they said 2 to 3 times then follow what they said at the back of the bottle. If they don't said try to press a little bit out on your hand if the exfoliation stuff is like hard sand or rough then use it 2 to 3 times becaue it's stronge if you use it on your face. If it's like soft sand then use it daily. You know soft exofliation stuff are for everday but rough like hard sand are only for 2 to 3 times. But read your instruciton at the back of the bottle before you use it every time. How often can I use this exfoliation stuff?
This article will answer any and every question you have about exfoliation. http://www.associatedcontent.com/article鈥?/a>

Long story short -- you can use it daily as long as it doesn't irritate your skin. If your skin starts feeling tender, switch to a regular cleanser for a day or two.
Don't use it at all. St. Ives Apricot Scrub is one of the worst exfoliators on the market! It robs your skin of your natural oils because it is cheap!

    Use Aveeno! http://www.americarx.com/Products/16338.鈥?/a>

It is much better and you will be happy with it. You can use this one every day!
Daily- It's a shower gel, so you can use it every day. You usually take a shower every day, so I think it's safe. You might want to use a moisturizer after you use it though

Does clean and clear(deep action exfoliation scrub) remove brown spots and blackhead?

give me straight answer or somethign else that removes thatDoes clean and clear(deep action exfoliation scrub) remove brown spots and blackhead?
No, try using aveeno the soap bar it works really good %26amp; you see a difference right away.Does clean and clear(deep action exfoliation scrub) remove brown spots and blackhead?
No clean and clear dosen't get rid of blackhead it actually makes your skin really dry. what worked for me to get rid of my black head was a product from proactive that was lik waxing that u put a liquid from the bottle and you pull it out just like waxing and you see all the blackhead coming out. Hope it helps..:D.
i remember using clean and clear i never liked it it made my skin greasy and nuetregena made my skin worse in every way the only thing that gets everything perfect which ive used for one whole year is clearasil ultra pads!
brown spots are usually age spots !

Does exfoliation increase the healing process with acne?

A pimple is simply some form of poisin coming up and out of the body. You can apply all the meds you want topically but that will not stop the cause. As soon as you begin to eat more LIVE foods like RAW fruit and veggies, you will see a great improvement. Fruit smoothies are a great way to do this. These foods will be replacing any of the fried fatty foods I hope.

Number one concern though is to cleanse your colin. A good fibre product (not metamusil, it has sugar in it)check your local health food store. And WATER! Good , clean, purified water, and lots of it. Your body is over 70% water.

I have been through all of this...and now my teenage boy. If he eats crap for a while and starts to break out, he just has a smoothie or two and maybe some fibre, and his face is quickly cleared up.

    Hope that helps.

You can do a generlal search on the web for live foods, or raw foods, or recipies and that should get you started.

Oh ya... and if starts to get worse before it gets better, and it will, that is a good thing. You are cleansing, this too shall pass.Does exfoliation increase the healing process with acne?
it depends, if you exfoliate too much your skin will get irritated. make sure you don't have really sensitive skin or rosacea, if you do, this will only make it worse!!! in moderation, it does help tho...

    Um...no!!!! Welcome to pregnancy,hun.
Nothing but time seems to help them. I've tried everything I could find. I have 3 kids, so my belly looks like a road map of a small country. Self-tanner helps camouflage them some. I exfoliate daily, and haven't noticed any difference. But, 2.5 years after my last child, and they're not so visible any more.

I have had psoriasis for along time.I had an exfoliation done at a spa last week .It felt great.?

How often should I do this on my whole body.I had never done it before. My face yes but everywhere I had not thought of it.What should I use at home that won't irritate my already ravaged skin?I have had psoriasis for along time.I had an exfoliation done at a spa last week .It felt great.?
You could try using some salt with oil....that will sluff off the scaly/dry skin and moisturize at the same time. If that hurts because the salt gets in open wounds, you could even try sugar. I have eczema, so I definitely would not try the salt, but am not sure if psoriasis feels similar.

Actual ocean sponges (not the plastic/cloth ones made for washing dishes, etc) could help exfoliate as well since they are a little less soft than a wash cloth.

';Normal'; (whatever normal is...) skin regenerates every 3 to 7 days, so I would try doing it once a week, and going from there.

  • What's exfoliation? How do u exfoliate? How is it diff from washing ur face or using masks?

Exfoliation removes the dead layer of skin on your face. Its different from using a mask which can either tighten the skin, moisturize or lift deeper dirt from your pores.

    1) Find a product suitable for your face, perhaps you have sensitive skin....you can find exfoliants at your pharmacy, by ordering them - Avon...or going to stores that sell them - Body Shop...

    2) Squirt a lil amount on your fingertips, but dont rub them together. Just apply on damp skin and in a circular motion, massage into face.

    3) rinse with tempid water and follow up with a toner!

You can also exfoliate your entire body with a loofa or body brush. There are also exfoliants for the body as well if you are looking for softer skin!

Depends on your type of skin, I wouldn't recommend exfoliating more than twice a week. What's exfoliation? How do u exfoliate? How is it diff from washing ur face or using masks?
Exfoliation is the removal of dead skin cells to reveal the fresh skin underneath. As we get older the dead skin cells cling and need to be removed. Methods of exfoliation include scrubs and the use of cleansers and creams which contain glycolic acid. Ask about these in a beauty salon. What's exfoliation? How do u exfoliate? How is it diff from washing ur face or using masks?
exfoliation is the removal of dead skin cells. some masks and face wash have exfoliator in them, but there are also certain products you can buy that are strictly used to exfoliate. its good before you tan and to make your skin look and feel more healthy.

Ok, I understand exfoliation and moisturising, but I've just heard about cleansing and toning! Explain please

Girls, your lives are so damn complicated!Ok, I understand exfoliation and moisturising, but I've just heard about cleansing and toning! Explain please
You don't need to tone anymore. Most moisturizers/cleansers contain a toner now, so you don't want to overdo it.

Clinique has a good men's line!Ok, I understand exfoliation and moisturising, but I've just heard about cleansing and toning! Explain please
';Cleansing'; is just washing. ';Toner'; is liquid that helps to unclog pores and can also exfoliate dead skin using chemical exfoliants like salicylic acid.

You're right, it's really confusing, because some cleansers also exfoliate, some toners act as cleansers while others can be moisturizing/refreshing, etc. Many skin care products perform multiple functions. You'd think this would make our routines more effective, but it really doesn't!
Cleansing is when you wash your face wit any type of cleanser. toning is when you use a non-alcohol based liquid whic is applyed on with a cotton ball or cotton pad %26amp; it removes the cleanser you didn't remove.

The normal procedure is cleanse, tone, moisturize.

To exfoliate, the steps would be cleanse, tone (optional), exfoliate, moisturize.
Cleansing and toning are the first two steps.

Cleansing is to clean the skin and pores.

    Toning to tighten the pores.

Then comes exfoliation which shouldnt be done everyday. Twice a week is enough. This is to remove the dead cells and make the skin smoother.

Then moisturising which you already know.

C first, then T then M. CTM everyday.

Do skin exfoliation creams actually age skin?

Ie., By exfoliation does skin cell division happen more quickly and thereby shorten telomeres and age the skin?Do skin exfoliation creams actually age skin?
Depends on what you use, and how often you use it.

Your skin wants to be exfoliated and it is often very good to remove the dead skin and allow 'new' skin to form and be healthy. Do it just twice a week on a clean face.

Is Exfoliation and clay mask the answer to oily skin?

    I have oily skin, yes.

is exfoliation and clay mask the key to get rid of oily skin for good?Is Exfoliation and clay mask the answer to oily skin?
Getting rid of oily skin would mean somehow yanking out all of your sebaceous glands, and sorry, that's not possible :P Clay masks once every couple of weeks do help a lot, but the day to day routine needs to be there.

    1. Cleanse:(a gel cleanser cuts the oil, not a lotion or a foam)

    2. Stimulate (exfoliate once a day, and otherwise make sure you're massaging your face as you wash and moisturize. it speeds up skin cell regeneration and gives you a healthy glow from the rush of blood)

    3. Remove Residue (be it a toner, freshner, or astringent, it's important to remove all the left over chemicals from both the water and the cleanser, and to restore the pH of your face. An unbalanced pH means blemishes)

    4. Moisturize (when your skin starts to dry out, your body panics and ups the sebum production so your skin quickly gets a sheen of oil across it. The oil is actually protecting your skin by trapping in moisture. Oily skin is a pain in the ***, but it keeps your skin looking younger a lot longer than dry skinned faces)

    5. Protect (an spf is great for the UV rays, and foundation is key to acting as a barrier for your skin, keeping it free of environmental pollutants that clog the pores and speed up your aging)

Drink lots of water, and control your oil throughout the day with powder (absorbs the oil, but use transluscent powder: it will turn coloured powder about a shade darker), or with blotting papers (cheap, small, convenient)Is Exfoliation and clay mask the answer to oily skin?
Exfoliation is good, but be careful not to over-exfoliate. Too much will only make your skin more susceptible to breakouts and sensitive. I do like clay masks for occasional use, but they won't cure oily skin. Instead, use an astringent/toner to keep oil under control. You can also buy mattifiers at just about anywhere you find makeup sold. They will take away the shine. For ';touch-ups'; during the day, get oil blotting paper. They too, are sold wherever makeup is sold.
No product will get rid off your oily skin forever. It's just either the way your skin will always be or it just may occur during certain times in your life. I would say that exfoliation or clay masks would be the way to go. Just be careful not to make your skin too dry.
It will only help for a little while before your face becomes oily again.
speaking from experience, you will never get rid of oily skin for good, but you can definatly get it under control. exfolitaion and clay masks help but only when done properly and used in conjuction with a good skin care regimen. what you want to do is get a good, oil free, foaming cleanser that cleans but doesn't strip your skin. if you try to strip your skin or get rid of every bit of oil your skin will 'freak out' and start producing even more oil. a good cleanser for oily skin is tea tree cleanser from the body shop or biore shine control foaming cleanser which you can get from any drug store. then follow up with a lightwieght, oil free moisturiizer with an SPF. yes, i said moisterizer. you NEED to protect your skin and as long as you use the right kind you're skin will not feel oily. i use clean and clear oil free with spf 15. a light layer is all you need. this is your daily routine. two or three times a week, exfoliate your skin. if you do it every day you will end up stripping your skin and this is not what you want! i use that apricot scrub from swiss formula or something like that. your skin can handle a more agressive scrub than others but don't go rubbing gravel on your face! on the days that you exfoliate, you also use your clay mask. exfoliating takes off the dead layer of skin, allowing your mask to penitrate deeper. a good mask for oily skin has kaolin clay and the best i've tried is tea tree oil mask by the body shop. you also might want to try using those little rice papers to blot oil away throughout the day. good luck!
well it wont get rid of it forever but exfolieating once a day followed up with moisturizer is great!
Hi, I actually read these really good articles about ways to balance oily skin and how to take care of oily skin with your own homemade recipes, you'll find more useful information there I'm sure:

YES use an exfoliant 3 times a week and a clay maks once a week. it works wonders
Nothing can rid you of your oily skin forever, its just the way you were made, but you can definitely help it, exfoliate can help, but its mainly to remove dead skin cells, the oil on your face requires a cleanser and lotion made for oily skin, and being sure to wash it twice a day since having oily skin means that you are more prone to acne than dry skin people. The clay mask may be good, but then again it depends on if its made for people with oily skin, there are many different kinds, so read them carefully. Good luck

  • What goes first? The face mask or the exfoliation?

I have lots of acne on my face and I'd like to know what I have to do first, put a mask on or exfoliate my skin? Thanks! What goes first? The face mask or the exfoliation?
exfoliate first because it gets rid of the dead skin cells on the surface then when you apply the mask it goes directly on the skin and deeper into the pores :) for a deeper, cleaner effect. if you apply the mask first you will just cleanse the dead skin and then scruff it all of :S so exfoliate first :)What goes first? The face mask or the exfoliation?
I would say exfoliation so that you can get the dead skin cells that lie on your face off of the surface, so that when you do use the face mask the good stuff gets into the freshest layer of your skin. :)
    Exfoliate 1st :)
    exfoliate first

Is adding clean beach sand to my shower gel and using once or twice a week a good exfoliation method?

As I am in grade 11, I can't afford to spend money on expensive exfoliation products. Is adding clean beach sand to my shower gel and using once or twice a week a good exfoliation method?
Sand is probably a little bit harsh for your skin. A better natural (and cheap) alternative you could try is sugar, or salt.

Olive oil mixed with salt is a great way to exfoliate and soften your skin aswell. Is adding clean beach sand to my shower gel and using once or twice a week a good exfoliation method?
Sand is good for a once a week thing...Everytime I go to the beach I rub sand all over me. But I would definitely not recommend using sand in the shower, if you are going to do it do it at the beach and then wash your body off at the water shower pumps.
maybe a little too rough...try superfine sugar.....or put oatmeal in the blender and grind it up. You dont need a heavy or coarse particle. Have you tried facial scrub pads..? They used to be called Buf Puffs - not the nylon kind but the pads. Look at Walgreens. Use it lightly.

How Does Exfoliation Affect Acne Treatment?

Exfoliation leads to healthy skin by sloughing off dead skin cells. Dead skin prevents oxygen, moisture and nutrients from reaching new skin cells being formed. Removing dead skin cells and clogged pores make skin softer and reduce hyper pigmentation. Exfoliation allows other products, like acne treatments and moisturizers, to penetrate the skin.

Exfoliation products are often recommended for oily skin to remove clogged pores. While harsh scrubbing is not recommended for acne prone skin, mild exfoliants may allow acne treatments to effectively penetrate the problem areas.

Acne scars and discoloration are often an ugly reminder of skin problems even after blemishes are gone. Exfoliation, as part of a skin care regime, can help acne and scars fade faster. How Does Exfoliation Affect Acne Treatment?
True acne is a bacterial problem, irritating skin that is already irritated will cause more scaring. How Does Exfoliation Affect Acne Treatment?
Well exfoliation is going to probably irritate your acne since it is taking off the most superficial layer of skin it is good for after your acne subsides and you can clean deep into your pores then exfoliate all the dead skin and moisturize afterwards. You can find exfoliations for your skin type I'm sure.

Is Salicylic acid the key ingredient to exfoliation?

Salicylic acid is a mild exfoliant. It treats acne and psoriasis, among other things. It sloughs off the dead skin cells and prevents pores from clogging up.Is Salicylic acid the key ingredient to exfoliation?
no, exfoliation occurs when you use something rough to rub the dead skin off, the little beads in exfoliating washes are the key ingredients. salicylic acid is an anti acne medicationIs Salicylic acid the key ingredient to exfoliation?
It just cleanses. Its used in astringents and toners.

one thing i do as an exfoliate is i scrub my face with an electric toothbrush.. it's sounds kinda weird but it works.. it really cleans out your pores and removes dead skin, oil and dirt.. you can use any scrub ya like.. i like to use st. ives.. and i do it about three times a week..

only wash your face when you wake up in the morning, before you go to bed, and after exercise.. excess washing makes your face produce extra oil..

warm water opens pores and cold closes them.. so wash with warm and rinse with cold..

i hope this helps..How can you speed up the Exfoliation process without having to put anything on your face like a certain cream?
It truly depends if you have sensitive skin or not.

you see for me I use witch hazel to clear away the pores.

( You can get it at walmart ) And having a little bit of oil on your skin does not hurt it or bring more acne...In fact having a little oil on your skin actually prevents you from having scars from any acne and your skin heals better. Yet if you are wearing makeup then wash your face with whatever you use.

apply ice to your face regularly it closes the pores so that would definitely reduce the acne breakout

check this site to find out how to get rid of pimples and its mark , it has good home remedies and info on aloe vera gel hope this helpsIs the best way to get rid of acne marks/scars through exfoliation?
Whether or not you can actually reduce/remove your acne marks/scars through exfoliation will depend on the type and extent of your scarring and marks. Long-term use of a home microdermabrasion kit will diminish the look of very mild acne scarring and improve the texture of your skin, but it will not remove deep/serious acne scars.

Acne scars are classified into four categories: boxcar, rolling, icepick, and hyperpigmentation. Hyperigmentation scars (dark marks) usually go away on their own after a lengthy period of time. Icepick scars (the deep, jagged ones) require extensive treatment for improvement. Rolling scars and boxcar scars from acne can be improved with laser treatments, dermabrasion, and chemical peels. Get a dermatologist's consultation for the best results. There is *no* over-the-counter clinically proven treatment that will reduce acne scars, unfortunately.

Exfoliation and spheroidal weathering occur near the surface of the Earth.?

True or False?Exfoliation and spheroidal weathering occur near the surface of the Earth.?
Hmmm could be trick question. it comes down to the definition of 'near'.

Exfoliation and spheroidal weathering occur mostly in felsic rocks on the earths surface.Exfoliation and spheroidal weathering occur near the surface of the Earth.?
Exfoliation and spheroidal weathering occur at or near the surface of the earth. Exfoliation typically occurs in intrusive igneous rocks like granite when they are exposed to repeated heating and cooling from the sun, and spheroidal weathering occurs in these and basaltic dykes when water enters cracks and joints just below the surface, causing weathering which will tend to round the blocks off - hence spheroidal (corners have more surface area than flat surfaces, so they weather out faster, leaving a rounded edge.)

I used to be a firm believer in manual facial scrubs (from beads to sugar to oatmeal) and used it for 15+ years. Then I finally tried AHA and BHA products over the past 3 years. I discovered that chemical exfoliation works much more effectively than the traditional scrubs. The AHA is great for brown, aging spots and sun damages, including the beginning stages of wrinkles. The BHA works best for acne control. Both are effective with a 5%-8% concentration, with a pH balance of 3-4. Seriously, chemical exfoliation can exfoliate deeper, whereas scrubs only works on the more superficial levels if you really scrub your face, which only irritates the skin more. Try the AHA and you'll see and feel the difference in your skin texture. What is best for exfoliation?

... a really good spa facial. It makes your skin tone look even. Don't use the ';DIY'; ones untill after you go to a spa and get one done.
Murad has a product that will lighten, fairly gently, patches or spots of darker color. I can't remember the exact name of it, but it worked well and people really noticed the improvement.

It's not cheap, I think it's about $20 or so for a small bottle. It was also worth it because I have extremely sensitive skin. My doctor prescribed Retin-A I believe it was, and I got 2nd degree burns even though I was using the weakest percentage dose, which surprised her.

Call the 800 number for Murad, and I'm sure they can point you in the right direction.

Does exfoliation 3 times a week really help get rid of blackheads?

good luck, i know, blackheads are a pain.

http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;鈥?/a>Does exfoliation 3 times a week really help get rid of blackheads?
Blackheads are the result of the sebum (oil) that your skin produces naturally and oxygen. When bacteria mixes in with it, you get a pimple. Most people have blackheads to some extent.

Don't over do the exfoliation. Once a week is enough. Find a gentle wash, Cetaphil is a good OTC one. Use it AM %26amp; PM. Remove all makeup every night. Once a week, clean your skin, exfoliate and steam - you can do all this in the shower. When you get out, apply a clay based mask to the areas that have blackheads - you can do your whole face is your skin is oily. Leave on for about 10 minutes and then rinse off with cool water. Use a good water-based moisturizer every day. If your skin is too dry (and exfoliating 3x a week can make it dry), it will only keep on producing more oil in an attempt to keep hydrated. Don't use rubbing alcohol or anything harsh. And if you use makeup, choose mineral makeup but make SURE that 'talc' isn't one of the ingredients. That is a huge pore-clogger. Also, use sunscreen or a moisturizer with sunscreen, daily. Does exfoliation 3 times a week really help get rid of blackheads?
You will never really get RID of blackheads. Every time you scrub you clean and reduce the pore size but the pores have already been stretched so will go back and fill up again. You can thou prevent them from getting bigger by regular cleansing .Scrubbing 3 times might be to much as this can over dry your skin, therefor your skin will produce to much oil to compensate. 2 times is plenty, Depending on the product you use aswell. Finding the right moisturiser for your skin type and using it after cleansing/scrubbing will stop your skin from producing the unwanted oil and making more black heads. In other words moisture is important dont let your skin dry out this can make it worse.
it depends on the skin type you have..

it should work for you, but if it doesnt see a dermatologist..

you can also buy other black head washes and that..

    Dont pick at them!
