Is Exfoliation and clay mask the answer to oily skin?

I have oily skin, yes.

is exfoliation and clay mask the key to get rid of oily skin for good?Is Exfoliation and clay mask the answer to oily skin?
Getting rid of oily skin would mean somehow yanking out all of your sebaceous glands, and sorry, that's not possible :P Clay masks once every couple of weeks do help a lot, but the day to day routine needs to be there.

1. Cleanse:(a gel cleanser cuts the oil, not a lotion or a foam)

2. Stimulate (exfoliate once a day, and otherwise make sure you're massaging your face as you wash and moisturize. it speeds up skin cell regeneration and gives you a healthy glow from the rush of blood)

3. Remove Residue (be it a toner, freshner, or astringent, it's important to remove all the left over chemicals from both the water and the cleanser, and to restore the pH of your face. An unbalanced pH means blemishes)

4. Moisturize (when your skin starts to dry out, your body panics and ups the sebum production so your skin quickly gets a sheen of oil across it. The oil is actually protecting your skin by trapping in moisture. Oily skin is a pain in the ***, but it keeps your skin looking younger a lot longer than dry skinned faces)

5. Protect (an spf is great for the UV rays, and foundation is key to acting as a barrier for your skin, keeping it free of environmental pollutants that clog the pores and speed up your aging)

Drink lots of water, and control your oil throughout the day with powder (absorbs the oil, but use transluscent powder: it will turn coloured powder about a shade darker), or with blotting papers (cheap, small, convenient)Is Exfoliation and clay mask the answer to oily skin?
Exfoliation is good, but be careful not to over-exfoliate. Too much will only make your skin more susceptible to breakouts and sensitive. I do like clay masks for occasional use, but they won't cure oily skin. Instead, use an astringent/toner to keep oil under control. You can also buy mattifiers at just about anywhere you find makeup sold. They will take away the shine. For ';touch-ups'; during the day, get oil blotting paper. They too, are sold wherever makeup is sold.
No product will get rid off your oily skin forever. It's just either the way your skin will always be or it just may occur during certain times in your life. I would say that exfoliation or clay masks would be the way to go. Just be careful not to make your skin too dry.
It will only help for a little while before your face becomes oily again.
speaking from experience, you will never get rid of oily skin for good, but you can definatly get it under control. exfolitaion and clay masks help but only when done properly and used in conjuction with a good skin care regimen. what you want to do is get a good, oil free, foaming cleanser that cleans but doesn't strip your skin. if you try to strip your skin or get rid of every bit of oil your skin will 'freak out' and start producing even more oil. a good cleanser for oily skin is tea tree cleanser from the body shop or biore shine control foaming cleanser which you can get from any drug store. then follow up with a lightwieght, oil free moisturiizer with an SPF. yes, i said moisterizer. you NEED to protect your skin and as long as you use the right kind you're skin will not feel oily. i use clean and clear oil free with spf 15. a light layer is all you need. this is your daily routine. two or three times a week, exfoliate your skin. if you do it every day you will end up stripping your skin and this is not what you want! i use that apricot scrub from swiss formula or something like that. your skin can handle a more agressive scrub than others but don't go rubbing gravel on your face! on the days that you exfoliate, you also use your clay mask. exfoliating takes off the dead layer of skin, allowing your mask to penitrate deeper. a good mask for oily skin has kaolin clay and the best i've tried is tea tree oil mask by the body shop. you also might want to try using those little rice papers to blot oil away throughout the day. good luck!
well it wont get rid of it forever but exfolieating once a day followed up with moisturizer is great!
Hi, I actually read these really good articles about ways to balance oily skin and how to take care of oily skin with your own homemade recipes, you'll find more useful information there I'm sure:

YES use an exfoliant 3 times a week and a clay maks once a week. it works wonders
Nothing can rid you of your oily skin forever, its just the way you were made, but you can definitely help it, exfoliate can help, but its mainly to remove dead skin cells, the oil on your face requires a cleanser and lotion made for oily skin, and being sure to wash it twice a day since having oily skin means that you are more prone to acne than dry skin people. The clay mask may be good, but then again it depends on if its made for people with oily skin, there are many different kinds, so read them carefully. Good luck
