I feel dumb for asking this question being a girl and all...but it's about exfoliation.?

What is exfoliation and how do you do it? Sorry if i spelt any of that wrong!I feel dumb for asking this question being a girl and all...but it's about exfoliation.?
Exfoliation involves the removal of the oldest dead skin cells on the skin's outermost surface, and has been used for ages to help maintain the skin. Exfoliation is involved in the process of a facial and during body treatments at spas. People of non-caucasian descent generally see better results from exfoliation, due to their faster skin production. It is recommended to maintain healthy skin at least twice a week, with a daily regimen recommended during the winter months.

You can use a very natural mixture at home to exfoliate when you shower:just mix sugar and some Johnson's baby oil.A friend of mine who is a cosmetologist told me about this home made recipe.

Don't forget your moisturizer afterwards!!!It's really important!I feel dumb for asking this question being a girl and all...but it's about exfoliation.?
Exfoliation is the removal of dead skin cells, old oil, and dried sebum [ skin wax ]; all of which clog pores.

It can be done with a store product [ such as apricot scrub - my favorite! - which includes a moisturizer too ], or sugar, kosher salt, and [ very very gently ] even with sand; mixed with some baby oil or lotion.

It makes the skin feel smoother, refines the texture, and can increase even-ness of skin color.

Best Advice to keep good skin:

1] use products designed for your skin type - oily, dry, sensitive, combination, normal - in face wash, body wash, toner, sunscreen, and moisturizers.

2] exfoliate entire body [ esp. face, elbows, knees, and feet ] at least once a week

3] clean face before sleeping

4] moisturize daily

5] avoid fried, fast, and junk food - even diet junk food

6] drink 1/2 gallon of water a day

7] take a daily multivitamin with minerals every day
Exfoliation has several meanings:

* Exfoliation (botany) describes the loss of leaves (or, in some cases, pieces of bark) from a plant.

* Exfoliation (cosmetology), is a cosmetic technique aimed at removing dead skin cells from the face and body.

* Exfoliation (geology) is a weathering process.

* Exfoliation (material science) is the process responsible for breaking up particle aggregates.
Contrary to what some people have said, it's not the same as mosturising. Expholiation takes away all the dirt, oil, and dead skin cells out of your pores and makes your skin look fresher. It does this by means of tiny grains (or ';microbeads';, as most modern companies call them now) scraping the gunk out. The cream itself stops there being any damage to your skin by abrasion of the tiny beads and mousturises your skin. A popular (and very good) example would be Apricot Scrub. It's really good. I highly reccomend it.

Don't feel stupid I ask lots of dumb questions!
Lol... don't be embarassed. The concept is so simple :) It's those like creams you put on your face that have little balls/ specks or w.e you wanna call that stuff and they take away the dead skin cells. Ita a process that gives you soft nice skin and helps preventing zits. :D
It's a thing you use on your face to get rid of the first layer of dead skin. it doesn't hurt, it just gets rid of the dirt and makes your skin smooth and feeling good. I probably explained that badly but oh well.... lol

exfoliation is when the skin wears away or comes off either naturally by itself or by using a product to help remove the skin.

This can be done anywhere on the body.
You know those scrub-face washes? Like St. Ives Apricot scrub? It's a wash that has little ';beads'; in it so they will scrub the dead skin off your face. That is exfoliating.
It means moisturising :D

Just buy a good skin moisturiser and use it every day after shower ;)

Edit: Nevermind my answer, turns out I myself have no clue lol
its like a scrub.. like facial exfoliation is a soap or cleanser with grains of sand in it to get rid of dead skin ..
